I'm also using a pillow wedge under my head and shoulders. Both came with a soft fuzzy cover on them with the word Bamboo on the cover. The fuzzy cover made my neck itchy so I ordered a 400 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton cover and put that on the pillow wedge over the bamboo cover. The smoother surface of the cotton fabric doesn't cause any itching. I plan to order one for the leg wedge too. I'm thinking it may be itchy on my legs too and my leg movement is causing the wedge to move out of place.
Getting into bed with the two wedges in place is a bit challenging. This is the first time I've used bed wedges. It takes some effort to get them where they need to be and get on them but once I'm where I need to be, I'm asleep within a few minutes with less pain. I don't wake up as often so I sleep for longer periods than I have in a long time. I'm not as tired through out the day and feel more rested. Come to think of it, I haven't needed an afternoon nap since I started using them!!
I'm glad that I decided to purchase these wedges. They're well worth the money.
This pillow is just a little bit taller than the 8" pillows. I have an older 'memory foam' one that has since become too soft, too squished. I had purchased it via a prescription to a back store for my spine, and that extra softness was always too low I realize and I always had to stack more pillows on top of it. Some complain that this one is too hard - it *is* firmer than the memory foam kind, but it is still soft... it's not hard like a pool noodle foam, more like the arm of a couch or something. Not as much give. But too soft really defeats the purpose of the additional inches. This pillow on its own is tall enough for me, but I also tend to use an additional "california king" type long pillow across it because my goal is raising my knees up enough that they are really tented. One could use a flat memory foam pillow across it if they really worried about cushion. I think this is high enough by itself... but my back feels so glorious this morning that I love the current combo.
Yes, my feet hang off the end, and as I pointed out, I am short. I prefer that. I have found with pillows like this if your feet are raised on the pillow as well, the blankets will press hard on the tops of your feet. If your feet hang off the end, the blankets rest normally rather than pushing hard against your toes. This might not work for someone with an ankle issue, you'd need either a much longer pillow or two I guess. You could use 2 tall end to tall end! :)
Ideally, considering i use another pillow with it, perhaps i'd need an even taller pillow, but this one worked. I haven't tried it without the additional pillow, but the absence of pain this morning... I will probably keep doing what I'm doing. Hope this helps you figure out if it would work for your issues, because I found the thing that worked for me!!

I ordered and they arrived in a long rectangular box. I opened it to find a vacuum sealed cylinder. There was hope! It looked like it would fit in my suitcase... and it did! Perfectly. It wasn't very heavy either.
We arrived at my grandmother's and I opened it up. I had read on the reviews that as soon as you open the packaging, the pillow will expand in about an hour. I waited about 30 minutes and it had fully expanded. I helped her place it under her legs and the design and shape was very ergonomic. She said she felt immediate relief from the pressure on her knees and ankles.
I stayed with her for two weeks and asked her periodically how the pillow was working for her... she said it was the best gift anyone had ever given her.
Pros:
Quickly expands to fill full size
Foam is very sturdy. Good material.
Pillow case is removable and washable.
Easy to put on and take off.
Ergonomic design.
Cons:
Once expanded, they cannot be compressed again so they are pretty big. Take up space and may not be easy to store away and out of sight when not in use.
This wasnt a problem for my grandma as she is hardly out of bed.
