We wanted to create a product that doesn't get thrown in the trash and add to the landfills so we made sure the Great Plate is reusable and 100% recyclable. How did you come up with the idea for this product?
With a house full of teenagers, there were constantly messes all over our living room. Soda cans, empty glasses, chips and other snacks spilled everywhere. We knew there had to be a better way! We looked online and asked friends and family for a product that could help, but did not find what we were looking for. We knew that we could not be the only family in need of such a product, and since it did not exist, we figured we'd just have to make it ourselves - and we did!
What makes your product special?
The Great Plate is unlike any other product on the market because it is an all-in-one food and beverage holder. You can easily hold both your food and drink in one hand. Whether you have small hands, such as a child, or large hands of an adult, everyone can easily grip, hold and balance the Great Plate. Even disabled individuals and seniors with limited use of their hands are able to easily use the Great Plate! There are other products out there, but all with flaws in the designs, such as not being able to set the plate down on a table, requiring the use of both hands or limiting what beverages can be used. No one has been able to accomplish what we have accomplished with the Great Plate!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The best part of the startup experience would have to be the overwhelming feedback we have received about or wonderful product! Every day people are showing and telling us the creative ways they have come up with to use the Great Plate. People are using the Great Plate at their desks at work, for crafts and painting, to help organize tools in the garage and much much more, all while avoiding spilling their beverages.
