PROS:
-Super configurable. There are several ways to use this vac and none of them feel superfluous or useless.
-Easy to maintain. You can remove the filters and wash them by hand, the HEPA filter is accessed by just pulling a hinged lock and sliding it out, the canister is washable, the 'maintenance bay' for the brush rollers comes with its own hair removal tool and the rollers are easy to pop out.
-User friendly. I don't have to bend down or lean over to twist a knob to set between carpet/floor types. There's a sliding toggle on the handle for that.
-Efficient. The front roller, with the super-soft bristles, does an amazing job of stirring up the tiny bits in my carpet and getting them out for the bigger stiff bristle roller to catch. This also means it'll wipe up dust from hardwood and easily pick up larger objects like dog kibble or spilled goldfish crackers (don't ask how I know that).
-Well engineered. Using this thing is actually kind of fun. You can hit a button or a release to just reconfigure it on the fly. Wand mode for high ceilings or in tight places, handle mode for countertops or crevices, brush roller mode for carpets/floors, tank release mode for going up and down stairs or where a bulky tank won't.
-Pseudo-self-propelled. The brush rollers on this thing pull so hard it actually propels itself along the floor. I actually don't recommend trying to use it without the weight of the motor/canister because it'll run away from you pretty quick.
-Compact. It's smaller, lighter, and easier to move around than my older vacs. Turns on a dime, light, and takes up significantly less space when stored. You can even break it down further by popping the handle off, or even further than that by detaching the wand and canister and stacking it tetris-style in a small closet. You probably won't need to go that far unless your closet is a Harry Potter crawlspace, though.
CONS:
Honestly my only two gripes are that the canister is a bit low capacity, and that the brush roller is narrower than my previous vac.
HIDDEN STUFF:
There are a few things I wanted to mention to which not enough reviews give praise.
1. The 30 foot cord is a godsend. I can plug this thing in from one end of a large room and not need to relocate the plug halfway through.
2. The brush roller head will *actually turn off* when you stand it upright. This means that unless you've tilted the machine back to use it, the lights and rollers will turn off to save power/wear.
3. If the rollers get jammed they'll stop and the green light on the right side of the roller head will turn red. Great for when you stop paying attention and suck up a pair of pants.
4. The handle can be disconnected from the wand and inserted into the brush roller. This is AMAZING for stair cleaning as you can pop off the canister, pop out the handle, remove the wand, and plug the handle into the roller so you don't need to swing the full length of the wand along a flight of stairs.
TIPS:
1. Always set the handle to Hard Floor when using attachments.
2. The canister's fill line is a pretty hard 'stop' point. Fill it up too much and there's a little bit of suction loss. Empty often.
3. Use the big L-shaped furniture attachment. That thing is genius.
4. Buy the motorized brush head attachment. The wind-powered one is... okay. It works, but it also slows when on firm surfaces like couch cushions.
I bought this vacuum because I had the rare opportunity to try it first. I just moved into a new condo and the landlord accidentally left this behind in a closet. So after moving in and getting somewhat settled I decided I’d take it for a spin before giving it back. The place was very clean to the naked eye, I was mostly just vacuuming to get rid of the dirt tracked in and the broken little pieces of styrofoam all over from unpacking new furniture. I wasn’t expecting anything out of this vacuum and even if it was terrible it still would at least get rid of the styrofoam bits all over. So imagine my surprise when about a quarter of the way through the living room I had to empty the bin!! This thing was sucking up dust and hair that I couldn’t see and didn’t even know existed! I was honestly blown away and decided to go through the entire condo with it. It had to be emptied a few times but that told me that this thing was sucking up EVERYTHING, dust, dirt, and hair embedded deep in the carpet. Eventually I accidentally snagged a throw blanket that was under the bed and the brush roll light came on. Now this wasn’t my vacuum and I knew that I’d have to give it back to my landlord so I started to panic for a minute. “Hey, I broke your vacuum” isn’t the way I wanted to start my relationship with the landlord lol. So I took a look at the brush roll and it was absolutely entangled with hair, like you could have made a wig from the amount of hair stuck on this thing. I noticed two little buttons that said “brush roll access” and popped it open. The brush roll came right out and then I noticed the tiny little hair slicer above it. Immediately I was impressed, I wasn’t like “Damn, this company thought of everything!” So I cleaned out the brush roll no problem at all and kept cleaning. I used the “Lift Away” and an attachment to clean all the crevices where the carpet meets the wall and the parts of the stairs that the vacuum head couldn’t get to and then cleaned the vacuum and put it back in the closet. Eventually I did give the vacuum back to the landlord so I started shopping for my own. I saw that this was almost $300 and was pretty disappointed because I couldn’t really justify dropping that much money on a vacuum after just moving in and buying all new furniture. So I kept shopping around and ALMOST bought a cheap Chinese stick vacuum just to get me by. I liked the idea of not having a cord holding me back or getting in the way but after seeing what this Shark vacuum could do I just couldn’t settle for less. About a week later I noticed the vacuum had gone up to $300 and was disappointed again because now I was ready to bite the bullet and spend the money but the price went up. Then a few days later (Amazon can be funny like that) the price dropped back down to its sub-$300 price and was now offering 1 payment/month for 5 months and all of a sudden I could buy this immediately without worrying about the hit to my savings account! I bought it immediately and I’m so happy I did. I was borrowing a vacuum up until the other day just to get me by and it was a piece of junk. It was also a Shark vacuum but it was so old that when I looked at it I was like “THIS is a Shark..???” I’m sure it was fine in 2008 but it’s just MILES behind this new model. So if you’ve had a Shark in the past and weren’t happy with it, it might be time to give them another shot. And I don’t regret going with this over the stick vacuum either because since this one is corded, there’s never any power drop off. Expensive batteries never need to be replaced, and it’s good to go 24/7. And with the cord being so long, I can actually plug it in downstairs in the living room and it’ll make it all the way upstairs (and around a few corners) and a good way into my bedroom! So now I just plug it in in the living room, vacuum the tile floor in the kitchen and bathroom, then the carpet in the living room, then the stairs, upstairs hallway, and upstairs bathroom before I have to unplug it and vacuum the bedrooms. Super convenient!
Cons: VERY honestly, I can’t think of any. I wish I could just for the integrity of this review but I’m genuinely 100% happy with this vacuum.
Pros:
Long cord- plug it into one outlet and you can get almost all of your cleaning done before you need to find another outlet.
Attachments- Everything you could need is included and comes with a storage bag so you don’t lose anything.
Modular- You can use it as a standard vacuum. Push a button and it lifts away to a carry vacuum, push another button and the wand is released which you can use with attachments to clean everything from crevices to furniture, to walls to under furniture. Push another button and the long wand releases to a smaller wand that accepts all the same attachments. Everything clicks together effortlessly and securely.
Easy to clean- The bin is incredibly easy to empty and the brush roll is well thought out and convenient to clean.
Maneuverability- This vacuum moves like a self propelled lawn mower! It glides forward with no effort at all and the head swivels and pivots intuitively. The vacuum will even go almost flat to reach under the bed or taller furniture.
Led lights- the lights on the head of the vacuum are great and really help you see anything that you might have missed.
I’m probably forgetting something because there’s so many great things about this vacuum but that should about sum it up. I’m confused about the negative reviews that this vacuum has because I’ve used two of this model and the one I had before I bought my own worked just as well as this one does out of the box, that says a lot about its longevity!

Pros:
- Suction is good but not as good as my 5hp shop vac.
- This NV803 version comes with some great accessories, including the Under-Appliance Wand and Pet Power Brush.
- Build quality is better than the larger Shark models.
- Power lift away is simple and great since you can reach under furniture and beds with the power head still working
- Sealed HEPA filter.
- Duo Clean will nearly polish hard floors as you vacuum. Its really effective for that and larger cleanups
Cons:
- brush roll pulls hard on stiff low pile carpet. You have to hold on tight otherwise it will self drive into things. Should have height adjustments with the brush roll to reduce this with some carpets.
- For a smaller vacuum it's got some weight so when you lift away the canister to reach under things, it gets heavy in the hand fast. They should have put wheels that let the canister operate as a canister vacuum and let me pull it around. That would be perfect if included in the ease of the power lift away feature.
This is a great vacuum and I've come across other people that own it and actually use it daily for a cleaning company so its got to be built well to hold up to that. The power lift away feature makes this really versatile and smaller size floor cleaning head can get it into tighter places than a full size vacuum. Also Shark does the hepa filter system very well. I've seen no complaints with it compared to high end stick vacuums like Dyson and others that can have leaks in the filter system with some models. Great choice if you don't want the weight of a cordless that has the motor and battery weight at the top of the vacuum which is fatiguing to use.
The suction is fantastic. I love how there is a light on the power nozzle. It maneuvers really well. I actually like vacuuming now. My floors have never been cleaner. I didn't realize how much I would appreciate not having to rush to finish my vacuuming now that I'm not in a race to beat a cordless battery. My only negative feedback would be that the colour (cinnamon) isn't my favourite, but I see now that there is a Blue model available! I would have ordered that for sure. Lastly, it's a bit heavy/awkward on the stairs, but I could switch the attachment and fix that.
