The Mistaken Billionaire (The Muse Series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Thomas St Clair is used to getting exactly what he wants, when he wants it. So when a mysterious woman shows up at his door with his runaway dog and her presence drives away his writer’s block, he’s willing to put up with her secrets if it means she’ll stay around.
Mila Elderkin once had a promising career in journalism, until her dreams were shattered by a rising star in the literary world. When fate lands her at that same man’s door years later, and he doesn’t recognize her, it seems she’s been offered a chance for a little fun. Mila’s not out for revenge, especially not once she starts to see the man beneath the persona. But the past has funny way of creeping into the present, and secrets don’t lie quiet forever.
Each book in the The Muse series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

Ms. Couper has an extraordinary ability to write any trope and master it with flying colors, and this story encompassing the mistaken identity and enemy to lovers tropes was one of Ms. Couper's best books in my opinion. Seriously, this book had everything I enjoy about romance novels -- sizzling chemistry between the main characters; plenty of exquisite heat and passion when the couple's chemistry spills over onto the pages in sex scenes; dialogue that made me laugh at times and want to cry at others; and an ending that left me satisfied and looking forward to more of this series because of the secondary characters, especially Sebastian.
The way this story started had me reading quickly, determined to discover whether the heroine would get to her destination all right or whether she'd end up enjoying herself in a different way than what she'd planned. Because it was palpable that the way her night was going things were going to get very interesting for her. Not only due to the outfit she was wearing and the way Ms. Couper depicts it through the dialogue, but because of the situation Mila finds herself in to bring her into contact with Thomas for the first time.
As for the dialogue, it was captivating due to the history between these two and their growing relationship. Mila's journalism career may have been ruined, but it hasn't stopped her from making a success of herself. She's strong and brave the way she's bounced back from her past, and I liked her determination to achieve anything she puts her mind to, especially with what she's doing for the kids she teaches. I also liked the way she motivates Thomas to achieve his goal of finishing his book. Talk about a way to inspire him.
While Thomas, I was absolutely charmed by him. His past wasn't easy with how his parents acted towards each other, but he managed to overcome it and has done really well for himself. I also liked how protective he was of Mila when it came to those that were trying to protect him. No way was he going to allow anyone to breach her privacy. Yet, what I liked most about the hero was his determination to show the heroine fun times and not allow their time together to be all about him finishing his book.
Finally, Ms. Couper really impressed me with this story where the secondary characters entertained me just as much as the main ones and I loved the friendship Thomas and Sebastian shared as well as the tight bond between Mila and her sister, Josie. Moreover, I liked how the secondary characters weren't afraid to offer their opinion, especially if it was Sebastian advising Mila or Josie advising Thomas. The way this story ended had me smiling big time, because this couple are meant to be and I loved the words they say to each other at the end. It definitely illustrates how wonderful their tale of love is for them to be able to overcome all the obstacles they did to achieve their happy ever after. I would recommend The Mistaken Billionaire by Lexxie Couper, if you enjoy the mistaken identity trope, the enemy to lovers trope, or books by authors Jess Dee, Vivian Arend, Erin Nicholas or Lorelei James.

Mila stood her ground, knew her mind and was still able to see past previous assumptions she'd made over Thomas St. Claire. This was refreshing and felt "real." I liked her trepidation, her feeling of being swept away, and all her doubt.
And Thomas? How sweet he turned out to be, so unlike everything Mila, and we, through extension, expected. An Alpha male, no doubt, but with open vulnerabilities. Approachable to the right woman.
I also truly liked Sebastian, but felt that Shelby was little more than a caricature. Reaper rocked.
One last complaint. While I completely admire how seamlessly Ms. Couper handled the dialogues in the book--it has been along time since I've read anything so authentic and natural sounding--I didn't like that Thomas learned the "truth" from Josie. It was too pat.
I did, however, absolutely LOVE how effortlessly Josie and Shanti's relationship just was. Ms. Couper merely wrote them and they existed. Bravo.

Well written & wonderful story!!
Can't wait for the next book...will it be Sebastian's story or ?!?!

This is my first time reading this author's work, but it won't be my last. You can bet on that!!!
