Product Description

This is a movie about smart successful beautiful people. In gorgeous Mexico. Oh, and California, also.
The main character speaks Spanish and English perfectly, and everyone seems to be bilingual, sliding flawless back and forth between the two languages. This makes it a good movie for people who want to keep up their Spanish language skills.
The plot is fairly predictable. Of the two guys, which one will win the heart of fair maiden? You guessed it. Which will bed her but also wed her? You guessed it. Even though the victories can be seen well in advance, it is getting to them that is entertaining.
There is not much humor but there is a lot of upper middle class cuteness and style. Great hair, good clothes, lovely decor and scenery. The somewhat frumpy sister turns out to have the best marriage - we should all be so lucky to have that!
I would watch this again in the dead of winter. Every scene seems to be flooded with sunlight and designed with warm colors.

This was a well-written story where the outcome is not a given, as it could have gone either way. The characters are relatable and have a great cast portraying each one as I was able to get to know each character's feelings and intentions from the beginning. I will say this movie was more enjoyable because I am bilingual with Spanish being my first language. The English translation does not do it justice. The true essence of the Mexican Spanish phrases is truly lost in translation.

This was a great movie! Many people have complained about the fact that a good bit of the movie is in Spanish with English subtitles, even though the title of the movie clearly states that there are subtitles (the trailer also includes subtitles, so the subtitles should not have come as a shock). Also, it's great that Amazon even offers the version with subtitles in the first place--iTunes, as I found out the hard way, does not. So, if you hate subtitles, then no, this movie is not for you. However, if you're okay with subtitles, then this movie is a must-watch! It's a great rom-com (the best I've seen in a long time), with great music and solid acting. Karla Souza is absolutely charming--her performance is simultaneously colorful, subtle, and genuine. I laughed throughout the movie at lines that were witty and reminiscent of my own experience but not at all cheesy. I rented the movie (watched it twice during the rental period) and will likely be buying the DVD. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend!

Firstly, I will agree that the trailer for this movie IS misleading. While the trailer is entirely in English, the movie itself is about 50% in Spanish. It's about a woman who happens to be Mexican American, who lives in L.A. and is visiting family in Mexico. Some of the movie is in Spanish and it is completely appropriate. You get used to subtitles after about four minutes and honestly if you refuse to watch movies with subtitles you are missing out on an absurd amount of fantastic movies.

I watched this movie expecting rom-com schlock that I would roll my eyes at but I was really, really surprised and pleased by what I got. This movie somehow manages to avoid feeling completely contrived while still absolutely being about a young woman having to choose between two men. It was surprisingly heartfelt and genuine and refreshing. I'm not giving it five stars because it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece or anything but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The characters are likeable, without being caricatures, and the plot has an original take. The main character is lives in California, and she travels to visit her family in Mexico for a wedding. The movie does a great job of flitting between the 2 languages. Also, I have to give a special mention to the location - Baja Mexico - its one of the most BEAUTIFUL places and I love that it's showcased in this movie.
