Fake news terrorizes Taryn Cooper Walsh, managing partner of 4G Investments. Mysterious mailings contain increasingly vicious lies suggesting that Taryn is running an unethical firm...a firm she founded with three women she has known since grade school, and a silent partner.

Supported by her husband, Taryn searches for the source of these lies before they destroy her reputation along with the trust of investors in her firm.

As the news clips continue to arrive Taryn becomes ill, blaming it on her increasing anxiety and inability to find any clue to the person behind the attacks.

This is a tale of a seemingly innocent incident fueling one person's plot for revenge.

A New York business psychological novel FYI: An Unintentional Consequence by Patricia E Gitt has brought an exciting opportunity to take a part of a journey of what it feels like to be a young and a well accomplished woman who’s happily married and who’s busy managing fortunes of local millionaires together with her three childhood friends, her present partners. But then one day her perfect life is threatened by unintentional consequence, which surprisingly took its root in the past that felt perfectly innocent. Is it time to recognize the root of a new blessing or is it time for revenge?

This would be an interesting read for anyone who's mesmerized by human nature. 5 stars for a satisfactory read and ending!

In An Unintended Consequence, author Patricia Gitt gives us another peek into the lush corporate world of New York’s one percenters, through the eyes of her main character, a woman who through hard work and business smarts finds herself part of that elite society. Taryn and her childhood friends create a financial powerhouse with a stellar reputation. But it’s not all smooth sailing, when An Untended Consequence produces an unexpected villain.

According to her biography, Gitt’s own real life corporate career provides realistic touches only an insider can know, and her descriptions are as rich as the powerful players in her novel.

FYI pulled me in right at Chap. 1. A well-paced, entertaining novel combining my favorite subject - the trials and tribulations of successful corporate women who must navigate business and private lives. What made this novel special for me, was the nuanced characterizations of one of the protagonists, showing how people can and do change their minds and conduct. Do not want to say more, as I do not want to give any more of this exciting plot away. Great outdoor, leisurely, summer read.

As I read this thought-provoking book, it struck me how easily what occurred to the protagonist could happen to anyone--that some tiny, forgotten event way back in our past could have such significant repercussions that they reverberate all the way through to the present. Cause and effect plays dominoes with us all. Without spoiling the story, let me just add that there were some excellent red herrings embedded in the tale that had me suspecting a different culprit entirely. Suspense with a twist! Definitely recommended.

Veery strong female characters. Well developed Women of substance. I had a bit of trouble believing the eight year olds were real but enjoyed the story as it went on. Good mix of mystery and deep friendships

Amazon.com Book Review: FYI - An Unintended Consequence by Patricia E. Gitt

As I read the latest novel by Patricia E. Gitt, I couldn’t help thinking about what I would do if I were faced with the dilemma that Taryn Cooper Walsh and her three co-founders of 4G Investments face when a series of shocking salacious letters sent to Taryn threatens the success of their hedge fund. About to restructure their business into a Venture Capital firm, the women are blindsided by the thought of possibly losing everything they’ve worked so hard for.

Seemingly coming from nowhere, this new threat leaves them wondering who and why anyone would try to destroy what they had built up through the years starting from the age of eight years old, and earning extra money from the 4 Girls Baby Sitting Service. The $1200 they earned back then grew into a source of pride and financial success for all of them. So who would want to hurt them now? Was it Taryn’s husband, Jesse’s ex-wife, who still wants to be part of his life? Could it be their lawyer’s gay lover? Or could it be someone from their past who is looking for vengeance for an old unremembered injury?

Searching for the culprit, Taryn works her way into the solution that paves the way to keep the business on track while mending fences she didn’t know she had damaged. I found “FYI - An Unexpected Consequence” a very engrossing tale that leaves one wondering about the many twists and turns we take that can make or break our lives. Ms. Gitt is to be commended for creating a suspenseful story that leaves you holding your breath till the very end.

Title: A woman terrorized by fake news

I really enjoyed this story. It was a pleasure to read about highly successful women who haven't depended on a man to get them where they are. I loved the character of Taryn and her relationship with her friends and partners. As in real life, but which is often forgotten in fiction, women depend as much on their female friends as they do on their husbands/lovers, this was well portrayed here. I loved the way the story played out, plenty of red-herrings to keep you guessing and the ending is great. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel based in the high-powered world of investment banking. Taryn and her three female partners and friends run 4G investments. When someone threatens the company by posting fake news to Taryn, they are forced to take steps to prevent the business being ruined. There were plenty of red-herrings to keep me guessing. The ending was very good and a satisfying end to a very good read..
