Pros:
-It's "weighty"/"dense" when you pick it up
-I looks "OK/Good" and the white frame and keys with blue LED lights are attractive
-Because of it's weight, the frame, although plastic, seems pretty strong and durable
Cons:
-ABS keys are CHEAP and plasticy with poor feel (see photos with knubs mentioned below)
-The underside of frame has adhesive rubber feet/pads that will likely fall off over time
-Definitely not worth $150, nor does it exude the qualities and typing enjoyment of a $150 keyboard
The photos I attached show almost every key has a "broken off" piece of plastic tip at the north facing side of the key where it looks like it was pulled off from a plastic assembly of keys and this left a little plastic "knub" on almost every key. For a $150 keyboard, the keys make it look very cheap and "unfinished". My last board had PBT keys that felt and looked FAR superior and price was almost the same.
The free keyboard that came with my Lenovo PC, while lighter and less "dense" feeling, has a better looking key and key feel. The silent red (Pink) keys are "OK" - not that that's Filco's issue - but, I'm not that impressed with them especially with Filco's cheap ABS key caps. This is my 2nd mechanical keyboard I have ever owned with my last board having MX Brown switches. I do prefer the quietness of the Silent Reds. In my office the Browns were loud. The Silent Reds feel a bit mushy and lack a sort of mechanical response/engagement that I appreciated about the MX Browns. The Silent Reds also seem to "fatigue" my fingers like they are going into quick sand and I have to pull them back out.
All in all, while not a "bad" keyboard, I just don't get much satisfaction from it. My home keyboard, a free Lenovo that came with my PC, seems better for typing enjoyment and fatigue. I'm not a gamer so this is strictly for office, typing, texting, emails, number pad crunching, etc.
My dream keyboard is a Topre Realforce, but I can't bring myself to spend $350-400 for a keyboard I haven't tried just yet! So I was hoping this Filco with Silent Red switches would be a close 2nd.
