Just finished Episode 4.
Seriously, Rick is a let down. They could have forged the gun count and hidden over half. They could also have left Alexandria and moved back to the Prison to regroup. There are numerous alternatives besides living in the shadow of a psychopath. It is also hard to believe that not one person would have walked up behind Negan and blown his spine out of his stomach, before they took their guns, sacrificing themselves if need be, thereby cutting off the head of the snake. Maybe it's time for old Rick to take a back seat and let someone like Daryl take over. Rick can bake bread and sow the fields. But then maybe not. Season 3 where Daryl escapes was an OBVIOUS setup. That was just bad script--Daryl would never have fell for that.
I seriously hope we won't be watching Rick and his crew bake bread for Negan's crew for the rest of the season, but if so, that's too long for me. For instance, the main problem with building up an enemy too much is that no amount of payback can make up for it. Remember the Guvna's final moment? How anticlimactic was that? Did that fulfill your need for some sort of retribution? Not me. I mean let's see:
Raped Glens wife
Murdered his own people
Tortured Glen
Tortured the idiot blonde (well she deserved it)
Terrorized the prison numerous times
Killed Maggie's dad
Then in one episode, he gets killed quickly and that's it? No, man, that doesn't work for me. Too depressing. It's like this guy is on a sociopathic rampage of murder for 2 seasons, then gets a swift death?
If the entire season is going to be watching Negan terrorize our people, naw, skip that for me. No amount of resolution/retribution/payback can make up for that sort of ongoing terror.
Episode 7 Sing Me a Song
I just witnessed perhaps the most awful, lazy and unbelievable scripting in the entire Walking Dead Franchise.
So, Carl goes to Neegan's camp without a plan or a weapon, stowed away in a shipment truck, in the back. As the stop in camp, he "finds" a automatic rifle and some ammo. Whew, just in time--not! He then proceeds to shoot one of the people, and tell everyone, "I only want Neegan; no one else has to die. He killed my friends." LMAO. He then has Neegan in his cross hairs not more than 10 feet from him, and manages to hold the bead of the rifle on him for at least 10 seconds while Neegan walks around slowly talking, and CARL NEVER PULLS THE TRIGGER, but gets captured? I just about turned it off. I mean, people, here we have a great example of B script writing and B acting all rolled up into one dismal 20 seconds of incredibly unrealistic and stupid scene. This takes the cake.I mean, Carl would have to have been high on crack to pull something like that. It's just the poorest writing the show has ever suffered. It's so out of character and ridiculous that you don't even have enough belief to suspend.
For a long time now I have seen this show, the plight of the characters, and the widespread popularity of the show as proof of the widespread difficulty most people face every day just to take care of the basics. What a catharsis to see an embodiment of the creeping difficulties that drag us down in real life - zombies- chasing Rick et. al. and getting their tails kicked. A few watch this show for the gore, I am sure, but most of us watch because Rick always finds a way. If Rick can do it, so can we, right? This first episode is brutal, because if you are looking for a ray of light, a spark of hope, you are looking in the wrong place. There is only violence, grieving, and if you are especially sadistic, a brilliant study in accelerating the stages of grief. Negan defies classification in the world of anti-heroes. His ability to empathize and understand without sharing emotion is deeply disturbing, more so than any other single thing.
Update as of episode 8:
We are just on the roller coaster, that's all. I don't know what it will cost Rick and Alexandria, but I know that they get Negan. In a previous season, Morgan constructed a cell in the basement of one of the houses.
A lot of people have complained about episodes that seem to give no new information and drag the story out. Well, if by story you mean the part with blood and guns and fire, then you are right. I don't think that is the story. We have gained a deeper understanding of Negan's world- that not a single person willingly enjoys his company. He has no right hand men or private love. He only has people he tortures more than others. He pins each follower under a weight or in a cage tailor made for that person. Watching Rick get back up again EVERY TIME he gets knocked down is why I watch this. Negan didn't just win a fight with Rick. Negan emotionally and mentally broke him. Negan took Rick to the edge, where he was willing to mutilate his own son rather than watch him die, where his son gave him permission to walk away. Then Negan took the blind hatred and anger Rick felt afterward and let him get it out on the zombies. Then Negan made Rick so busy complying with the new order that Rick shouldn't have any energy left to think about option C, take down Negan. Yet Rick always gets up and tries again. So this is Rick trying again, finally. This season ends with Negan behind bars in Alexandria and the world starting to look manageable again. It's what they have been hinting at, it's how the comics end. My sister won't watch this anymore because she says there is no way this gets better for anyone. I think she is wrong.

This season starts with the introduction of a new character. The character's name is "Negan" and he is the leader of a colony named "The Saviors". Negan puts rules in place to keep his colony stable. As a result, his colony is doing quite well and has plenty of resources.
Meanwhile, Rick's group continues to be in shambles. We have already seen how the once peaceful Alexandria was ravished upon the arrival of Rick's group. Of course, this is nothing new and has been happening several times during the course of this show's run (examples: Greene farm, Woodbury, Terminus). This continues to happen in season 7.
Originally unmolested by The Saviors, Rick decides to make a deal with The Hilltop colony. The deal consists of Rick's group receiving residency and resources from The Hilltop colony in exchange for starting a war with The Saviors. Unfortunately, Rick has underestimated his opponent and his war does not go as planned. This is just another example of Rick causing unrest for another colony because of his own selfishness. This of course, also affects the others in Rick's group. Abraham pays for Rick, Glenn pays for Daryl, Sasha goes further down the mental rabbit hole, and Maggie becomes as cold as steel.
Despite all of this, Negan gives Rick a second chance and offers a peaceful solution. Also giving food to Carl and implementing a diet for Olivia. Of course, Rick's greed takes over and the peace does not last long. This results in Rick's group causing unrest in The Hilltop colony, The Scavengers colony, The Kingdom colony, and stealing resources from the Oceanside colony.
"The new world's gonna need Rick Grimes"?
I think not.

Comunque ripeto, considerando tutto, per me 5 stelle!
