Product Description

Katana-Cinema Tray for DJI Mavic

Katana was developed for one simple reason, to harness the power of your Mavic’s camera and gimbal, while shooting on the ground. Katana enables you to capture precise hand held shots in tight, or difficult to fly spaces. PolarPro’s new mobile phone mount is also included allowing you to see exactly what you are filming as you shoot. The monitor mount ensures that your shots are framed up perfectly.

Shoot full real estate videos with one camera

Katana allows you to quickly shoot high production real estate videos quickly and efficently. Capture your aerial shots outdoors, then mount the Mavic onto the Katana to capture smooth interior shots. Katana allows you to use the Mavic for the entire shoot enabling you to travel light and reduce set up times of additional cameras.

Capture cinematic content in no-fly zones such as National Parks

Visiting a National Park or an area in a no-fly zone? Connect your Mavic to the Katana and harness the power of the Mavic's camera and gimbal. Katana is perfect for Mavic Pilots want to travel light and only need to worry about packing one camera system.

Unlock new creative shots with your Mavic and Katana

Katana is perfect for filming in tight places where precision close-ups while flying are not an option. The Katana makes it safer to film in tight with out the risk of flying into people.

The Katana perfectly holds your drone and mobile phone so you can focus on getting the shot and not fumbling everything around with two hands.

Katana will also turn your Mavic into the perfect follow-cam rig, perfect for skiing, skating, or anywhere else you can't fly the Mavic.

Given the alternative options, pricing and availability, $50 is nothing for this thing. Works as advertised for nice handheld pan motions, however, I wouldn't walk with it much as it's nearly impossible remove the bounce from walking. I use for real estate room spins to enhance still photos and aerial product work. Would be great for family outings where you want to film some family moments with the best possible footage.

Great little addition to your bag. Mounts your mavic pro easily and securely. It makes getting the close to ground shot super easy and I even use it inside homes for real estate videography. I use an iPhone 7 in the mount and the 2 options for straight or tilt make it convenient also.

This Katana does what it's advertised to do but it's really a over priced handle for your drone! I got it for $15 I don't think it's worth $10! If I had paid the $50 range polar pro was asking a year ago I would have sent it back and waited for something else or possibly buy a 3D printer and print one myself! I'm not saying it's a bad product just that your paying mainly for the Brand Name here like bottled water you can get the same water with 2 different labels one will cost 10x more, I know o worked for a company that bottled water. Bottom line should you buy this ? Yes if it's on sale.

I know what yer thinking. "$45.50 for a hunk of plastic that looks clumsy and kinda goofy?" ANSWER: Yes, yes & yes again. You paid $1000+ for that Mavic Pro and you know you don't fly that expensive toy often enough. Yes, unbelievably high quality aerial video from that combination of awesome flying machine and high tech 4K camera WITH 3 AXIS GIMBAL. Therein is the key to this product.

You don't fly that awesome 4K video camera often enough, so how about 3 axis stabilized video on the ground? Use that awesome camera 3 axis gimbal combination on level ground just like a regular video camera. Double duty for you expensive toy which sits around between flights. Yes it may look a little clumsy, but the way Polar Pro (or somebody) has engineered this it doesn't feel clumsy in the slightest. Yes, bigger than a super duper new mini 4K camera, but your Mavic can also do 4K from the sky and travel 2+ miles to get the shot. Why not allow it to get your land shots too? And that expensive land based 4K vid camera doesn't have 3 axis stabilization, nor can it fly ;-)

A no brainer for me to be able to use my Mavicas a stabilized 4k video camera and still shot on terra firma

Well made and up to the task, have used it several times winding around trees etc. - for me, however, its a stuggle to mount on MAVIC -- got to hold Mavic w one hand while finger screwing the handle on to the brace which has to be perfectly lined up due to limited length of thread on the thumb screws.
If you attempt to set it down on a table whilst attaching thumb screws, Mavic camera with its very sensitive gimbal will be in contact with table. Be careful.Keep the gimbal cover on!
I attach while Mavic is in my hand, using the other to line up and tighten the brace to handle. In the field it could be a challenge.
Additionally I would like to see an extension for the phone mount to handle my mini tablet which I use while droning - much better viewing with bigger screen.

As much as I wanted to like this product, I was just too unimpressed with the nonchalant reshipment of a very clearly already used item. I saw immediate problems when I pulled the box out of the package. The box was very worn down, with rips on both corners. The sticker that seals the lid shut was already pulled up and covered in dust. After examining the tray itself I noticed one piece of the rubber trim was coming out. I tried to push it back in, assuming it would pop back into place, but it looks like it’s out to stay. I thought that it might be part of what holds the drone into the tray steadily, kind of like a spring, but it’s not even centered in the space that it’s in. Incredibly disappointed. Might be a worthwhile product if it’s new, but that is not what I got.

Just got this in the mail, opened it up and filmed my first video test of kids swimming in the back. First thing I noticed is how smooth the video is. I was walking normally around filming and yet the steps I'm taking are very muted by the Mavic. In the video I even walked up some steps to test and still very smooth. I love that this gives you so much more flexibility to use your Mavic other then just a drone! Now I can literally take it and use it anywhere! Setup does take a minute because you have to remove the propellers and attach the Katana itself. The only thing you don't think about is that you still have to control the camera angle on your phone. Tilting the Mavic up or down it will still stay focused on what you have it set on, so that took a moment to get used to. Excited to start using this!

Much better than the version I designed and had been using. If you need or want something like this I'd say save your money and time and just buy this one. Cheaper in the long run and works great. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Nach ein paar kleinen Anpassungen ein sehr nützliches Tool
Reviewed in Germany on August 18, 2017
