Somebody Else's Sky (Something in the Way Book 2) Kindle Edition
If I closed my eyes, I could still see her—all blonde sunshine, ocean-blue eyes, and long limbs. My scenery may have changed from heaven to hell, but some things never would. Lake was still everything I wanted, and nothing I should ever have. I was nobody before I knew her and a criminal after.
But the only way to love her was to let her shine—even if it would be for someone else.
Book two in a completed USA Today bestselling love saga.

This is a continuation of Lake and Manning’s epic love story and damn does it enthral you.... the barriers that stopped them being together may not be the same but amazingly, they get worse 😭 These two are fighting so many different obstacles that you sit there rocking in your chair long after the book is done.... especially with that ending!
This is a story that will stay with you for years to come. And you’ll love every minute of it....
but...Hawkins does such a good job of creating an argument for Manning & Lake to NOT be together that I was almost left with the feeling
that maybe they shouldn't be. Hoping this turns around in the final book.
Before reading this book, you need to read book one otherwise you won't have no clue what's going on.
I am loving this series so far and I am loving that Jessica knows how to push the god damn boundaries around. This series is based on a forbidden romance, significant age gap and two sisters who are in love the same man.
This book fast forwards one year and we see the changes that lake, manning and even tiffany go through as they grow.
I am not going to write a huge review and spoil any spoilers. This book in the series is definitely an emotional ride and you will feel all the feels that there is. You will be taken on a roller coaster ride at full speed. So hang on and get ready for the ride because there is lots there that you definitely don't want to miss. This book needs to be read!
What a bloody cliffhanger the ending was , I just can't even! I just need book three right now but you are going to have to wait until october. If you haven't started this series then I suggest you do because this is a series that is meant for everyone to read and it's one series that I haven't seen written before.
This is a love story - definitely not your average love story, but a beautiful love story nonetheless. Two people who are deeply in love trying to find their way.
I’d wanted to fall to my knees and pay homage. To overwhelm myself in her. Soak my senses with her. Touch her body, smell her neck, taste her mouth, hear her moan, feel her relief that I was home.
Jessica Hawkins has a way of drawing you into a story so completely that you feel like you are really there - in the scene, with the characters. Her dialogue and scene descriptions are so exquisite there were times I felt like I was Lake and the emotions she was describing were mine. The emotions in this book are epic. Have your tissues handy.
Lake grew as a character in this book. She's still beautifully innocent but I felt she was also starting to find herself in this story and I loved seeing her discover new sides to herself and look forward to seeing who she is in book 3.
I sealed my words inside along with a great love that somehow fit inside me.
I loved the chapters from Manning's point of view as I felt it gave us a better insight into why he made certain decisions and my heart broke as his story unfolded. His childhood history, his reactions in prison and his self hatred all built to give us a full picture of who Manning really is. There were times I wanted to hug him and also times I wanted to shake him in this book.
“You should have the world. F@#$ the world—you should have the universe, the sky, and every star in it.”
Tiffany was not a popular character in book one and won't be in this story either. I did feel we got more insight into why she behaves the way she does and she showed some growth. But I gotta say I am still definitely not a fan.
I worried my sister actually thought she loved Manning. Sometimes I caught her watching him the same way I did . . . with stars in her eyes.
I don't want to give away the story so I won't say anything else. I will tell you to make sure you are prepared with tissues, wine and chocolate. You are going to need them. This story packs a punch straight to the heart. You have been warned. Bring on book 3 and the culmination of this epic story. I for one cannot wait.

Love the characters - I have images of exactly how they look and sound in my head so really well written in my opinion.
Not going to go into specifics about the story - buy the book and reward the author for her efforts.
As proof of how much I was into this story, I went on my first holiday post Covid to a Greek Island in May. I was sat in the most beautiful cove (Antony Quinn bay look it up) reading this book and thought to myself 'Life is good' :-)

WORST-BEST book hangover EVER.
That was so cruel. Or was it? Maybe it was. I don't know!!! When I first finished the story, I was mad, really mad like super-ragey-angry-mad, I was basically all of the emoji faces all at once, especially the one with snot fuming out of its nose. Because that was me. I was crying, pacing, yelling and probably looking like a damn fool. Thank god I don't have a nanny cam because that wouldn't be pretty to watch. You know it's a great book when you need a support group full of like-minded individuals just to help you through the next five months. After I let all my emotions sink in, like REALLY sink in, I'm still an emotional wreck-4 days later! Between all the different conspiracy theories and scenarios running through my head, I'm an absolute mess and I couldn't be happier about it because I have faith in the process, and If book one didn't cement Jessica Hawkins in my heart, this sure as hell did. So thank you Jessica, for making me crazy and happy and miserable and ALL THE THINGS. Every book should fuel this kind of fire in its readers. EVERY. BOOK.
"I didn’t see these other girls and feel stirred the way I did for Lake, but at that moment, I wished it was anyone but her. I wished I’d never f*&king met her. I just didn’t wish it enough to walk away for good."
As I let the story settle in a little more I realized that I was probably feeling all of the emotions that this author wanted me to feel. I'm pretty sure this is the effect that every author wants to have on his or her readers. However, not every author can achieve that, and Jessica did, TENFOLD. I really feel like I read a book that captured the essence of young love and the forbidden fantasy of what we can't have. I remember young love well, it's tragic and heart-wrenching and it's littered with vividly beautiful moments that are unforgettable. And that's a perfect way to describe this book. Will I die waiting for book 3? Not technically I hope, but yes, this will be a torturous 5 months because I have been profoundly moved by this series.
“You think I don’t know how you feel? You think I don’t carry the burden of our love on my shoulders just to keep it from crashing down onto you?”
We start this story right where the first book left off, and we get Manning's point of you for a lot of the book, which is as scary as it is nice because there's no way in hell that I want his mind on Tiffany! And let me tell you, there's a lot of Tiffany. SO. MUCH. TIFFANY. I'm not going in to the what's and why's of how I feel about Tiffany, or what happened because one, I don't want to spoil anything. And two, I don't really want to spend my time talking about that wench.
"She would be mad, but she couldn’t deny the unshakeable truth about Manning and me—this story was ours."
There's not actually much I can talk about without spoiling so I'll just continue with how I feel. I'm mad, I'm so mad, but I'm also extremely hopeful. I swear this book made me bi-polar, like why is this happening!?! All I feel is grief and anxiousness and pain and it hurts. If you want to read a book that will hold your attention and make you breathless and shatter you in complicated young-love glory than READ THIS BOOK.
“Even if all that’s true, you’re forgetting one thing. You can love me more than anyone else could. How can you ignore that?”
Manning is trying to make the right decision with his life by doing right by both Lake and Tiffany. And I firmly believe that everything he does is out of careful consideration and adoration for Lake, but then we have Tiffany and he obviously has adoration for her as well. I understand Lake, but why Tiffany!? Ugggh just talking about her makes me itchy and uncomfortable. PLUS, the way Tiffany treats Lake is downright wrong. Like dude, that's your little sister, you're supposed to protect her and love her and pick her up when she's down, not kick her when she's down!
There are very few books that I can say all of these things about and still give it a 5 star review. Like I've never been so mad reading a book but I still freaking loved it!!! How does that even happen?! Jessica Hawkins is a sorceress I know it. It's as if she left a piece of her soul in different parts of this book for each reader to take and keep with them, like a literary souvenir so we can never forget the magic of this story and discover the profound enormity of love within its pages. Because that's what the underlying message is here, in my opinion. That love is hard and angry and all-consuming and unpredictable. And I can't wait to read book 3 to see where all of that love goes. Hands down, this is my favorite series this year.

I thought the first book was throwing me off, but book two is just worse - in the best way possible! All the feels! All the love and hate and confusion and anger and desperation and vulnerability!
This is one of those books where writing a review like I usually do, is just not possible! This is one of those reviews where I just can highly recommend to read these books for yourself.
I need book three like yesterday! Because I need to know!!!!
PS: Jessica Hawkins writes beautifully. It just envelopes you to the point where you forget where you begin and the characters end, where you know something will happen and you still hope it won't.

This book put me through the damn ringer, I’ve never read a book with so much angst, passion, stolen moments, lingering touches, and longing gazes that make you want to cry, smile and toss your kindle across the room. (which I did numerous times) The choices Manning made in this one made me want to strangle him, and Lake’s naivety made me want to scream, but again I was glued to my screen because this series is just so consuming and the chemistry undeniable!
.
Somebody Else’s Sky picks up right where Something in the Way leaves off and we all know how dramatic that ending was. Manning’s in jail and Tiffany saw things that night and won’t let Lake forget it, and Lake is absolutely traumatized. She never knew her love for Manning could be considered toxic, all she wanted was to love him freely and now look what’s happened, he’s in jail for a crime he didn’t commit, her sister Tiffany is the only one allowed to visit him, and she is still considered the young little girl being forced to push her feelings aside.
.

.
Once Manning is out of jail, he knows he’s going to have to face Lake again one way or another, but what he wasn’t expecting was for the then 16 year old girl he once knew to now this beautiful 17 year old so far out of his league he’s consumed. Manning’s inner thoughts are torturous, he so desperately wants to do the right thing, he knows a relationship with Lake could never work, she is to young and innocent and he, he is damaged, he needs someone who won’t need him to be the best version of himself. Someone like Tiffany, so even though it nearly kills them both Manning must make a decision that will ultimately destroy them.
