Product Description
Parrot ZIK - The World's Most Advanced Wireless Headphones
Listening to music and being insulated from external noise are features that more and more Smartphone users are looking for. Parrot has designed the perfect solution to address these desires, introducing wireless headphones that act as an extension of your Smartphone. Like your Smartphone, ZIK has integrated a sensitive touch panel, giving hyper-intuitive access to the various features available. For optimum listening comfort while on the phone, ZIK is equipped with two technologies for pinpointing the sound of your voice. Combined with the use of a double microphone, the bone detection sensor detects and analyzes the vibrations of the jaw in order to detect only your words and remove any background noise.
Recreating the Musical Image
For a brand-new listening experience, Parrot has paid special attention to the audio output from ZIK. The headphone provides you with powerful DSP (Digital Sound Processor) algorithms which reconstruct the sound, giving you the impression that the music is coming from in front of you; this is the "Parrot Concert Hall" effect. Lastly, to insulate you from external noise, Parrot has developed an ultra-high performance active noise cancellation system which eliminates up to 98% of ambient noise. While traditional ANC audio headphones only use two microphones to analyze ambient noises, ZIK has 4 microphones located inside and outside each earpiece offering the user complete clarity while listening.
Parrot Audio Suite
Parrot Audio Suite is the free Android / iPhone / iPod remote application dedicated to the Parrot ZIK design by Starck. The application allows the end-user to easily configure and modify the products configuration and parameters through the iPhone/iPod/Smartphone user-interface, including: Parrot Concert Hall effect, equalizer, Active Noise Cancellation, system, helpdesk, and battery level.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
I'm very picky about sound quality having owned two audio stores in the past but I have to come clean and say I've never been much of a headphone guy. Reading reviews I was concerned about how many different opinions there were about sound quality and battery life and how poor the sound quality was when used w/o equalization on a wired connection.
So, sound first.
I will go along with most reviewers agreeing that without the equalization the sound is pretty poor. However with the equalization (and the ability to tune it to your preferences) I feel the sound is very good to great. I hear subtle things on my favorite recordings that I am familiar with that I use as test pieces, a good thing. Good bass if you want it and high levels if needed. I like the ability to play with the soundstage, from "silent room" to "Stadium", it's a bit gimmicky in a way but it works. My source so far has only been my iPhone.
Noise cancellation.
I had a chance to compare these back to back with the Bose QC-15's. I would say they are not quite as good as the Bose but I think the difference is very small. They kick the Bose's butt in sound quality- not even close!
The earpieces are soft and fit me well which I know helps.
Function.
I found that the headphones will immediately pair with my phone and they never seem to lose connection- even when I've wandered to the back of the plane over 20' away. No drop outs or any weirdness so far.
Using the Parrot Zik app on the phone is straightforward and I've had no problems so far.
I really like the auto-pause when you put the headphones around your neck and the touch functions on the earpiece are very nice. Yes- you will mess up a few times when you first get them and pause/skip/blast your eardrums but only once or twice.
Battery life.
I haven't hit the limit with these yet so I can't comment- they did make a 6+hr flight without going out on me, so far, so good.
Comfort.
A few people commented on their weight which is true- they are not light. On the other hand they have metal castings that attach the earpieces to the band and the adjusters at the end of the band are big, solid parts. I would be surprised if they ever broke or wore out. The way they are designed makes them fairly low profile despite the large-ish earpieces. You do feel them on your head for sure but they haven't bothered me even after 6 hours on the plane. As I mentioned above the ear cups are soft and comfortable.
Quality.
I'm impressed by the way they are made, the way the pivots and adjusters move, the quality of the materials and the packaging- down to the cloth wrapped cords. Put them side by side with most competitors and you can immediately see the difference. I think they are well designed and that comes through in the ease of use as well.
One negative.
I agree with other reviewers about the absence of a case- just kinda dumb to not have one at this price. The bag won't do it and allows the earpieces to grind on one another if you don't isolate them. I now have the case which is also expensive ($38) but is really nice.
I will do an update at some point when they have a few more miles on them. For now I would say I feel good about the purchase at the price I found them: $360 on Amazon Prime.
Unless you are just wanting to listen to music from you PC, you are looking at these to fill the market gap for a noise cancelling wireless headset with isolating microphone to make calls from your computer, use with skype, or other SIP devices, these are NOT FOR YOU AT ALL.
Pros:
Excellent sound quality, far better than others in its class
Most innovative headphone available.
Superior material and build quality
Swapable battery!
Cons:
Windows/OSX and general PC compatibility is a huge miss. - Some Atheros bluetooth adapters are incompatible
Not for big heads
Would give 5 stars if I could use it as a Skype/VoIP headset.
I'm a programmer and work in an office, using headphones about 70% if not more of the workday.
Sound Quality:
Fantastic. Probably the best sounding pair of headphones I've ever used. Unfortunately, if the batteries run out, you're stuck with the hard wired connection, which drops the sound quality significantly (like... REALLY significantly).
Bluetooth:
The bluetooth connection seems stable, but audio cuts out randomly and sometimes frequently over a 30 second or so span (which is incredibly annoying). This was the case when connected to either my Macbook Pro 15" Retina (early 2013) running 10.9.2 (Mavericks), my iPhone5 (iOS 7.1), as well as my iPad Mini (iOS 7.1).
Noise-Cancelling:
Excellent. Really cuts out the buzz from the air conditioning at work and the noisy desktop computer at home.
Battery-Life:
Lasts about a workday. If I were to continue to use these, I'd have to charge them every day.
App:
Why?! Why have an app? It's absurd. It's also the only way to check the battery status and manage EQ or noise-cancelling. Considering I use these with my computer the majority of the time, it's pretty useless.
Touch Controls:
I like the play/pause by tapping, however, I keep accidentally toggling it, which is annoying.
Style:
These look pretty f'n cool.
Other:
These can get HOT and become really uncomfortable because it. Also, I didn't use the jawbone-esque call feature, no real need.
Overall, I'm returning these because of sub-par bluetooth performance, uncomfortable overheating, poor battery life, and the fact that it's dependent on an app. However, based on the sound quality, noise-cancellation, & style, if they revisit this model and upgrade the bluetooth, extend battery life, and fix the heating issue, I'd definitely try them again.

Lieferumfang
========
- 1 Zik
- 1 Micro-USB-Kabel
- 1 Line-In-Kabel 3,5 mm
- 1 Li-lon-Batterie 800mAh
- 1 Schutztasche
- 1 Kurzanleitung
Technische Daten
===========
Also, was kann der Zik?
- Kapazitives Soft-Touch Bedienfeld an der rechten Ohrmuschel Präsenzerfassung
- Freisprechfunktion
- NFC-Kopplung
- Aktive Geräuschunterdrückung
- Digitaler Klangprozessor (per App zu steuern)
Allgemeine Beschreibung
================
Was macht den kabellosen ZIK so besonders?
Verarbeitung
========
Tragekomfort
=========
========
Fazit
===
