Additionally, the seat cushion itself is thick and comfortable as opposed to the thin mesh that a lot of more expensive office chairs use. The seat is plenty wide enough as well so that you won't feel restricted while sitting and it's heavy and solidly built. Like I said, I used this chair for 7 years and many thousands of hours of work/gaming/etc. so clearly it is quite durable.
The only negatives to this chair are that eventually (after 4 or 5 years) it started to creak a bit and also the arm rests eventually started to rip which is why I'm finally replacing the chair. The arm rests are a sort of hard foam material, so over time I feel like it's inevitable that they will rip and fail.
All in all though, for this price, you probably won't find a much better chair. I actually just ordered a new one since I experimented with a few others that were much more expensive yet were lacking in the adjustable features and simply weren't as plush and comfortable as this one. I'm hoping the new one will also last me for years to come.
TL;DR -- This is the best decision I've made as a student, artist, and gamer. Comfy, supportive, and I wouldn't mind sitting in my chair for a few hours compared to before. Would definitely recommend buying this.
I got this after a few years of having a Serta "Ergonomic" and Executive Office Chair. Its support didn't last very long, and I've been looking for an upgrade for a while. To start, I'll tell you the issues I had with Serta so that you can understand what issues I was hyperaware of when buying this chair. First, the Serta became squeaky after a few months of having it. Any shift, spin, lean forward, lean backward.. it made the most annoying noise ever. It didn't hold the height very well (would always slowly sink), and my tailbone and back would get sore after 20 minutes...
This Modway one is everything I could ever want in a chair. It has a great range for adjusting the backrest angle and the chair's height. It's actually so tall that I need to get a footrest for its tallest setting (5’3 — a good problem to have, in my opinion.) It has a nice spin, it's firm, and the cushion feels high quality.
The only two problems I had are very simple ones.
1) The mesh. I hadn't had a chair that used mesh before. The original chair I had was leather. The mesh is comfy and breathable. Sometimes I wear a skirt, shorts, or dress and the mesh could imprint into the skin if you don't wear long pants while sitting. This isn't a large issue, I'll just throw a soft towel or small blanket down on the cushion before sitting on days where I do wear shorts or a skirt.
2) The instructions are quite simplified, relying more on images than actual words... to the point where I started missing IKEA instructions... take from that what you will.
Over the course of my using this chair more, I'll be sure to update with more reviews and observations. Overall, Highly recommend it.
June 3, 2023: UPDATE:
Yeah. Get it. It’s way better than anything my office job uses and I can easily sit in this desk for a couple of hours, no issues or soreness. The cushion is still dense and all of the options for height and angles are still smooth and not-squeaky as ever.
Initially upon sitting in this chair it feels great. Lower lumbar support is really good. Arm rest adjustments, perfect. It not a top quality chair, but for the money this is really all I can afford right now.
I often pull 16 hours days, so good support is critical. I also recently had both my hips replaced, I can tell right away this is not going to hurt me. That may change with time, but I figure that if it does, I will rework the seat with new upholstery and padding. I looked at a lot of chairs before pulling the trigger on this one, and I am really glad I settled on this. Worth the money...and at this price, I can afford to replace it every five years if needed.
Top reviews from other countries
The ergonomics on this chair, aside from the armrests being a little awkward if you like to lean back a bit when you type, are great. Having the back AND seat tilt be separate and lock/unlockable is so, so nice. The colour is a lot more yellow than the stock pictures show. It's more highlighter yellow than it is green. I love it but would've preferred a more accurate representation on the site. The assembly is simple and straightforward. The seat is just amazing. The waterfall seat with the divots for your legs instead of just being a flat "board" I guess is like sitting on a cloud.
However, the mesh on the seat has very deep holes and it's impossible to get little specks of fluff out without vacuuming it. I also wish it could tilt back just a *little* farther, about 5-10° would be great.
Those two minor points aside, I'm so happy with this chair I could scream. The ergonomics are on point for the price and, again, my back feels *so* much better. Do yourself a favour and get one if you're in the market. This thing rocks. I'll be posting continuous updates for the next good while cos I don't think 3 days of ownership is enough for a solid review.

However there are a few annoying issues:
- the backrest keeps sliding down no matter how tight you tighten it; adding some duct tape to thicken the support post made it better.
- the seat tilt is adjustable, however it only leans back from horizontal; the option to lean slightly forward would have been appreciated
- the arm rests are a bit too wide for me (even at the closest setting) and since the tops don't turn and they are concave, it gets uncomfortable while typing after a while. If you just have one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse this is not a problem.
