I have been switching to GoodSense generics and have noticed no difference between them and either the name brands or pricier generics. My latest switch has been to this bottle of GoodSense aspirin which arrived with an expiration date over eighteen months in the future. It’s a good and economical value and an easy way to make sure that we have an adequate supply on hand.
* I am in no way affiliated nor friends with anyone associated with this product.
* I've been taking this BRAND of Good Sense aspirin for almost three years now - and the thing that still floors me - is how little it costs. Do a comparison shop around the web - and for a whopping five-hundred pills - its price will NOT be beat.
* When my first 500-tablet bottle arrived - immediately I ran it through the smell test. ALL aspirin tablets - including NEW aspirin with long expiration dates - have a fresh (but mild) vinegar-type smell. It's been that way for nearly 100 years in tablet form, even the coated ones. In fact, I don't ever recall opening a fresh bottle of aspirin WITHOUT getting a sour-like smell.
* What happens when aspirin is stored improperly, e.g., around moisture, in direct sunlight and high heat conditions - is it breaks down - FAST. And that fresh but mild vinegar smell - turns into something like bad vinegar mixed with acid - and the pills start disintegrating around the edges, leaving a powdery residue that settles at the bottom.
* Caveats - I take two of these tablets every day - because I want to - given all of the plaudits about this near ancient (in medicinal terms) brew of acetylsalicylic acid. Three-hundred-and-sixty-five-days in a year - multiplied by two tablets a day = 730 tablets. So I'm a steady shopper. Of course, I DON'T recommend this regimen, however preventative some experts say it is - until you get a doctor's OK - especially if you're already taking anti-coagulant or blood-thinner meds and / or tend to bruise easily. Because my circulatory system is fine, my doc says two pills a day can't hurt, hence I treat it like a food supplement (though it's clearly not).
* As a result, I've ordered many 500-tablet bottles of the Good Sense brand and they've all been fresh. The quality and efficacy of these COATED tablets are also first rate - that is, they work for minor aches and pains. Anything stronger, see your doctor. Like most fresh aspirin, whether in 100- or 500-tablet bottles - the expiration date will range from 18 to 24 months out. However, anecdotally - I've used properly stored aspirin (never in the medicine cabinet, always near my desk) - up to two years past the expiration date - and they still work, showing no signs of deterioration nor changes in smell.
* The key again, is proper storage. Naturally, for a bottle this size, expiration dates will be more critical. If you need further convincing - when you get this bottle, you can do what I do - which is to empty it into several smaller air tight bottles for greater portability - and to enhance its life span. Taking aspirin tablets out of a big plastic bottle like this in stages - will leave a large air pocket behind which you do not want.
* Every so often, the price of this product will jump up a bit, depending upon available stock. Wait until it comes down. Even at double the price, this is a great value.
I've been giving this to my senior service dog at 5 mg per pound so my 65 pound dog gets one pill per day...one half pill with each meal. It's really helped with their mobility. I'll be taking it as well soon in place of naproxen to see if it is as effective for my severe arthritis. Hope it works because it is certainly more affordable.
Aspirin is aspirin. This is a good value from a good company. However, I was unable to open the bottle. There are instructions on the cap, which indicate that is is a flip cap. However, I cannot flip it open. I tried twisting it in case I misread the cap - no success. I had to cut open the bottle and transfer the contents to another container.
This is a great item to keep in your medical supplies. Aspirin is such a basic thing, but helps so much. They will last a very long time, so be sure to have at LEAST one bottle on hand, maybe more.
Due to Covid-19, we are quarantined. When my aspirin was out and my son had already dropped of my weekly groceries, I looked to Amazon to help me out. Until now I had always just grabbed coated aspirin at the store without really thinking about it. Boy howdy was I not thinking straight! GoodSense Aspirin costs 1 penny/tablet. Bayer costs 5 cents/tablet and Ecotrin costs 6 cents/tablet.
In addition to cost, I am happy with the benefits. Due to my health, my doctor has me take 325mg daily. It is important for it to be coated because I get sick to my stomach easily. The coating on the aspirin has done it's job. I don't get sick.
I ordered GoodSense Aspirin Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer (NSAID), 325 mg Coated Tablets on a Sunday evening and it was delivered Monday morning. Honestly, I was shocked since Amazon said it would take a week and it took less then 12 hours. Way to go Amazon!
By purchasing my aspirin and vitamins and supplements online and having them delivered to my front door it frees up a lot of my time in the store. I can buy this bottle of aspirin and take one a day and it lasts several months. That is between me and my husband. Our doctor suggests we take one aspirin per day and this just makes it much more convenient.
