Wonderfully creative game for kids as young as 3 years old.
My wife and I are part of a family that has enjoyed playing games for several generations from lawn games to cards, board games and puzzles. We’ve been aware of both Moose Toys and Orchard Toys for a long time and we were thrilled when we heard that Orchard is now working with Moose to distribute preschool games with appropriate redesigns for American families. Moose has roots in Australia; Orchard has roots in the UK, where we actually bought a couple of their games while traveling in the UK some years ago.Now, as we are grandparents with preschoolers, we’re seeing a whole array of sturdy, colorful, age-appropriate Orchard games available on Amazon and we’re very happy.This review focuses on Crazy Chefs. The company’s kid testing accurately says that kids as young as 3 could play this game. As grandparents, we actually have a 3-year-old granddaughter kid tester who had not yet played a game with us involving a “spinner.” So, that was a new concept in this particular game within the Orchard Toys series. If you are giving this gift to a child (or parents of a child) around age 3, you might think about whether they’ve ever played a game with a spinner. If this feels just a bit too advanced for you child, Orchard Toys has another food-related game called Shopping List that uses similar “matching” skills but does not have the spinner complication. In our case, we found Shopping List an immediate hit, but Crazy Chefs took some explaining. “I want to spin now!” “Why do we spin?” “What does that mean?” we had a host of fun questions to answer.We’re 5-star happy with this game and one reason we want to stress is that Orchard Toys provides crystal-clear instruction sheets inside its boxes. It’s startling to us how many games and toys for preschoolers come with nothing inside the box to explain how to play with the set. In fact, I’ve uploaded a photo of the instruction sheet because we’re pleased to see it.
