From the manufacturer

About us.

From the beginning, our dream has been to help people lead creative lives by providing tools to make their do-it-yourself projects beautiful, fun, and easy. When we built our first cutting machine, we saw the potential for a simple yet powerful tool to completely transform the way people think about crafting, designing, and making. Since then, we’ve continued to innovate with new machines, materials, and tools, and Cricut users worldwide continue to amaze us with the personal, meaningful, and unique things that they make.

    Sharp but delicate
I found that some of these blades lasted a very long time and some last for literally seconds. This of course made me think why could that be. The photos included are of a new blade and a blade which is just useable but not cutting the way I want in fairness it had made a lot of cuts. These blades do not dull in my experience the tip breaks microscopically. The angle of keenness of these blades is such that the tip is a bit delicate. This is a trade off they warn you about in fairness in order to get deep cuts they grind a shallower bevel. I am guessing that if you can break a blade in a little it wears the tip just enough to make it a little more durable but if you start off with a bunch of sharp turns you just break the tip off immediately. To improve the durability of the blades cricut could grind a microbevel I may actually try this myself if I feel motivated. This would give most of the durability of the 45 degree standard cutters with most of the deep cutting abilities of these 60 degree blades. Considering how expensive these blades are cricut should be able to afford to microbevel these.Edit I added a photo of a blade that has continued to cut well after some use lit obliquely. There is no discernible wear or break in like I had guessed but I would still think a microbevel would help
