A humorous, illustrated look at French and American parenting styles that is also equal parts love letter to two of the greatest cities in the world: Paris and New York.

Where French parents rely heavily on the word “No” and dictate what their children wear, American moms and dads talk everything out with their kids and let them choose their own clothes. French children are well-behaved and stylish; American children are self-confident and creative. Which approach is better? Both—and neither—proclaim authors Florence Mars and Pauline Lévêque, two Parisian moms raising children in New York. Beautifully and playfully illustrated by Lévêque,
Say Bonjour to the Lady pokes fun at the extremes of both styles, making for an amusing look at parenting today.

Review

“In the tradition of Bringing Up Bébé and French Women Don’t Get FatSay Bonjour to the Lady is a hilarious, spot-on dissection of French versus American parenting styles. And a Frenchwoman would never use the term ‘parenting!’ Mon dieu!”
—Amy Sohn, author of Prospect Park West

“This is so fun and—even with its slight exaggerations—so true. It made me laugh out loud while also considering how we raise kids today. Hilarious for adults and with sweet illustrations everyone will enjoy,
Say Bonjour to the Lady is perfect to give to fellow parents and for moms and dads to read with their children.”
—Mimi Thorisson, author of French Country Cooking

“I love this book, having spent so much time in France! Finally someone shows the difference in how we are raised and educated in such a beautiful and fun way!”
—Kelly Rutherford

“I think this book is delightfully written and illustrated and captures artfully how vastly different two cultures can be when it comes to raising little adults!”
—Rebecca Minkoff

“When talent, humor and sheer elegance marry into a delightful book on the intricate differences of educating children on both sides of the Atlantic… Irresistible.”
—Cécilia Attias

“In Say Bonjour to the Lady, Florence Mars and Pauline Levêque compile with humor any number of situations where the cultural differences are flagrant, and the result is hilarious.”
—French Morning

“Florence Mars and Pauline Lévêque...find ways to appreciate each other’s parenting styles and celebrate them—making it a fun read for both parents and children.”
—MindBodyGreen.com

“A solid baby shower gift for any Francophile”

Loved this so much. Terrific.

Even though I am EXACTLY the "typical American Mother" portrayed in this book, I found myself laughing (and agreeing!) with all of the authors' clever insights! So fun (and funny) to see myself through their eyes and my children found it equally amusing to see themselves in their depictions. Beautiful illustrations and worldly humor-- a simply "charmant" novella. Highly recommend.

This book was short and not worth the price. I thought there would be actual content but it was mostly just a couple sentences on each page. Disappointing.

Very overpriced for the Kindle version! It should be 99 cents, not $11! The book is a bunch of drawings with a little caption about each one. There isn't any real, concrete information; it's really more of an opinion book than actual facts or research. I also don't like the way that Americans are portrayed as I don't think it's accurate and makes up a very small percentage of the population. It would probably make a cute coffee table book but isn't worth buying the ebook version.

This easy to read book is a great view into Parisian parenting. Although there are many things that I love and appreciate about our American traditions, this book gives you something to think about and good advice. A good read!

Oh, I wish there were more pages, it's real fun!
Full of comparisons and it's nice. Light reading. Lovely drawings.

Wow - thanks for the preview pages - i do not need to buy this book it looks so ridiculous. I mean come on - i could have written this book without ever visiting Paris and just knowing Parisian French style from movies and culture and books - yes, French are uptight and value their style - OMG - no cartoon characters on the t-shirts? American kids don't know how to chew with their mouths closed? and do we all eat under a table? Such rubbish. I would have felt like a total fool paying money for this book my well-mannered 8-yr old could write and draw. No, merci mais non! Jamais! Never would buy it. Tres ridiculous! Tres ridicule!
