Product Description
With more than 40,000 customers, the Genuine WhiBal has become the standard in the industry for precision WB Reference "Gray Cards". Each and every card is measured with a precision spectrophotometer to assure you that *your* card meets our industry leading specification of +/-0.5 within the a* and b* channels.
Do not be fooled by RGB measurements (they have no meaning in this context). Very simply, WhiBal combines all the best features of all available White Balance cards, and meets or exceeds their technical performance in a unique package that can be used conveniently in all your shooting situations.
In addition, WhiBal provides convenient neutral White and Black reference areas for setting dynamic range in your digital capture using the Black and White Eyedroppers available in RAW conversion software, PhotoshopTM, and most other editing software.

Feature Summary:
It fits in your shirt pocket.(2.1x3.35 inches)...so you will actually use it rather than have it in your bag!
It is basically indestructible, waterproof, etc
All 4 reference "colors" are essentially equal to or better than all tested "reference cards" for neutrality and spectral flatness.
All cards are designed for low reflectivity, except the BlackPoint sticker which intentionally is highly reflective so that maximum Blackpoint level may be achieved.
Can be used to set white balance reference, Black point and White point.
Fits shirt pocket or can hang on studio hook.
WhiBal is a product of PictureFlow LLC, is patent-pending and proudly made in the USA.

The quality is excellent. I wish it was double sided but unfortunately it's not. However, it is on textured plastic so it is matte. Therefore, you will not get glare or smears on it which can become an issue when trying to white balance in post. The card itself is credit card sized. If you need a bigger one, which you shouldn't--look for the studio version.
It is certified neutral. This is very important especially for film makers because when comparing this to other "18% grey" cards you can instantly tell the other ones are not. If you've ever shot video, especially log or RAW, you'd know using something as a reference for white balance that claims to be grey or neutral will leave your footage either with a slight magenta tint, or everything will look like it is fine but skin tones may look a little red adding more time in post to correct. This is what actually led me to purchase this card.
A lot of great cinema cameras do not come with auto white balance (which you shouldn't use anyway) and when shooting in a good codec, log or RAW; most of your white balancing is going to come from post production. If you use Dvinci Resolve as I do (you should be for color correcting if you don't), using the qualifier to select this card as your neutral key will result in excellent balancing every time.
Do yourself a favor and skip the ones that are $10 less and get something that's certified. Or else you'll be spending extra time trying to figure out whether your balance or tint is messing up those fine details with an awful hue.
Take a centered photo of the gray card as close as you can using the same illumination that you will use on your subject, either natural light or a speedlight. Then adjust the custom white balance in camera using that image following your camera instructions manual. All the following images will be adjusted. Jpg's and raw files will use that value. Remember to do it again whenever your light changes.
You can also use the dropper wb adjustment tool in camera raw or Lightroom to get the wb values from the card image and paste it to the other photos.
PLEASE, BE ADVISED THAT THIS IS ONLY A QUICK ILLUSTRATION OF HOW EASY IT IS TO USE A GRAY CARD. YOU SHOULD FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS.
I do plan to purchase the next size up for setting white balance in camera ( its large enough to fill frame with most of my lenses) for when I want to control white balance in camera.
I highly recommend this product!!
How this item works is that it has a neutral gray, a spectrometrically (may not be a word but they used Science and Stuff) measured white, and black. What you do is have your model or subject hold this card with the three values facing the camera, take the pic, then take the pic normally in proper lighting and exposure. In post-pro, you open the reference image with the subject holding the card via photoshop and add a levels adjustment layer. You'll see the three eyedroppers (gray, black, and white). Use each eyedropper on its respective value on the card, and you will see your photo drastically transform in seconds. Now, move the image window outside of the frame and drag the adjustment layer on the photo you shot with the subject without holding the card, and BAM! The levels from the reference photo are transferred to the final picture, taking all guess work out of the process. BUY THIS NOW! It's cheap, portsble, and effective. I'm just starting to get serious about photography, and I feel this will turn into a a better photographer. You'll like the way your photos look, guaranteed!
