I have the first book in this series and wasn't able to get into it, but I loved this one. I don't give a lot of 5 * reviews. They should go to well written books that make you think or lmao. You read the blurb, so I am just going to dive in. Love Sofie! She is loyal, has my favorite snark and doesn't expect much from people. Johnny can be a goof, a little clueless sometimes. He and Sofie have sex against a goat pen and surprise! Sofie doesn't expect anything and is surprised when he wants to be involved. They are both young, a little awkward but he has Olympic Gold. Sofie did not try to trap Johnny, doesn't expect a baby to do anything but create more problems but knows this is right for her. She stays out of Johnny's limelight and continues to work on her dreams.
The supporting characters make you appreciate Sofie and Johnny more. Her father's hoarding and benign neglect. Even Lia, her bff is too absorbed in her new life to pay attention to Sofie's life crumbling. The father's new girlfriend was the one I had the hardest time with. Sofie's late Mom put her in cheerleading at age 5 for all of two minutes. This is Texas where football is king. The mean girl's Mom froze them out. She spread stories about her saying Sofie had head lice so no one would play with her. Sofie's Mom created an insulated world where they had tea parties and Sofie didn't notice how alone she was until she lost her. Sofie isn't a Mary Sue, she just got on with it. Dad finally takes his head out of his butt, not for his daughter, but for the mother of one of her childhood bullies and that is sad. He doesn't even tell her he's seeing someone until he get ready to move in with the woman. We find out all the mother's were complicit in ostracizing Sofie and her Mom so the same thing didn't happento them. Then she pulls out a photo album with a picture of the girls in their uniforms and acts like they did nothing to this poor child and her mother. She never comes clean to Sofie's father, even though they are living together. Johnny's single mother is cold, but she did the best she could raising him alone. She is also responsible for his swimming career.
Sofie and Johnny somehow navigate getting through an unplanned pregnancy and the road to a new Olympics without a whole lot of help. I don't think I will be going forward in this series because the other characters were just so awful. Even if they get their lives together and stop making other people's lives miserable, I just don't want to know them. So pull on you Speedos and enjoy Sofie and Johnny's trip to parenthood and adulting.

Part of Me: A Small Town Sports Romantic Comedy (Friendship, Texas Book 4) Kindle Edition
Welcome back to Friendship, Texas. A town where your best friend may be dating an Olympic swimmer and his best friend may or may not also be an Olympic swimmer you sort of, kind of did the nasty with against Nonna's goat pen.
“Is that…?” I asked, staring at Dr. Burly Santa.
He smiled and nodded. “That would be your baby’s heartbeat.”
The emotion I’d been storing away came flooding back as tears burst from my eyes. A baby. A person. This was real. I was carrying a tiny human inside me.
The doctor tried to console me as he gave me samples of prenatal vitamins and paper after paper was piled in a folder with my name and September on the front.
September. My baby’s due date.
Holy shit, I was going to be a mother.
And Johnny was going to be a father.
I had to do so many things to prepare and people I had to tell. But at that moment, I just stared down at my stomach. My stomach holding my baby.
This wasn’t just about me and my future anymore. This was about us. And whether I liked it or not, this baby was a part of me, which meant Johnny was a part of me. It was time we stopped running from each other.

This book is different to the romance stories I usually read there was no big fall out or angst and yet it was still interesting to read. I love the comedic moments woven into the story and how Johnny was such a caring and mature guy when faced with a life changing situation (defo a fictional book boyfriend) This was my first book by this author and I will look out for her other books.

This is one of my favorite series. I received an advanced copy for an honest review. This is a great story set in the small town of Friendship Texas. I love this series. While you can read this as if it was a stand alone however in my onion I would at least read Edge of Glory first so you can get introduced to these two from the very beginning. If you are wanting to go farther back start with Forever Sweet and then travel along the road that is Friendship TX.

Favorite Friendship, TX book!!

Sofie & Johnny’s book might be my favorite out of the series so far! It deals with heavy topics in a very light hearted way.
I enjoyed seeing how both of them dealt with her pregnancy & how they came to terms with their feelings for each other. I also can totally appreciate Sofie’s jealousy over Emily.
This series just keeps getting better!

I love quirky people. And goofball guys. And nerdy girls getting hot goofball guys. This is such a feel good HEA. I laughed out loud multiple times getting to know Johnny and Sofie and felt her pregnancy struggles and hormone induced antics like they were my own. This is an awesome read.
