This is a not a stale "one size fits all" self-help book. The prompts are very well thought out and really encourage you to take action. Kate Dalebout is great at reaching the audience in the sense that you really feel like she is talking to you and helping you sort out your own unique issues and emotions. I really like the way the book is sectioned out and she clearly lays out key steps to take in order to start solving some of these problems or dealing with some of the emotional baggage that may be bringing you down. More importantly, these steps are small and implementable. You can see progress very early on. She also appeals to me because I often find myself overwhelmed with emotion after journaling. Instead of feeling helpless, she encourages you to deal with those emotions using a unique plan of action.
Overall, I cannot say enough about how much this book has helped me in such a short amount of time. I am really glad I took the chance and purchased this. I have a feeling my therapy sessions will be even more fruitful because now I know the source of some of my problems and I have become much better at organizing and articulating my thoughts. I even have a better grasp on some of the unhealthy patterns and "traps" I regularly fall into.
Let’s be honest, I didn’t read this book cover to cover. It is the type of book that I like to flip through, skim and really read the parts that drawn me in. That being said, I really enjoyed this book on journaling. I highlighted the crap out of it and jotted down many notes in my own journal. Katie has some a really great take on keeping a journal. While I do not think that all of her ideas or prompts will fit into my life or the way, I prefer to keep my journal, there is still quite a lot I took away from this book and have and will add to my journaling arsenal. There is a little bit here for everyone! I recommend this book for those who want to start journaling as well as those who have been journaling for years.
I received my copy off Let it Out through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Very well written by a young woman who's journalled for a long time, and full of chapters to get you thinking about letting either your creative juices flow, or empowering you to pour out those unhappy and painful memories that blight many of us (this was the case with me).
I must confess that since I did the eCourse and bought this book, I have become a trifle 'keen' (ie obsessed) with planners, stickers, coloured pens, sparkly paperclips, laminators etc (all of which go into creating a Creative Dream Journal) but it's no bad obsession, believe me - what fun it is.
So if you're one of those people who seems to do things at the same time rather than in a structured way; or if you are recently retired and you find yourself lacking motivation (or the opposite - trying to do too much), this is just the book to set you on your way to journalling ie structuring your day so that it doesn't all just become a blur. (I apologise in advance - you WILL get hooked on journalling and planners. Just go with it).
