If you already know what you need specifically for a project, these are SMALL; they are barely larger than my palm. The material is sturdy but not too thick, so if you're layering it, it shouldn't bulk up in the areas with more complex shapes (assuming you're collaging similarly to me!).
TLDR; Yes for a first felt buy, or to have a stash of every colour, or want as much variety as possible (maybe DIY letters for your flannel board??). No if you know what colours you need and have no need for extra scraps of fabric afterwards.
