This was supposed to be an upgrade from my other Chapin which is also a 2 gallon with the higher pump handle so you aren't bending over as far to pump it. That one lost pressure, then bought two other brands and returned them, then went back to Chapin to try this model out. It's sturdy enough but there are several things i don't like. I am spraying areas at any given time on 31 acres so I put in hours of use at a go.The pump itself is flimsy. It's too narrow inside that large wide mouith. When you're rocking spraying you are needing to pick up, twist off, fill, replace lid, pump, pick up and get moving. It wobbles, I feel like I will break it within a short time, it doesn't have the positive feel of the much larger pump circumference of my old chapin. I would have bought my old model except they don't offer a brass fan spray tip for that 2 gallonmodel (which I found out neither does this new model). The height is also lower which doesn't help bending and spraying for hours. I understood there was a brass fan spray tip, there is not. It is the red plastic fan spray tip and it is woefully inadequate. First, back to the pump, this unit does not get enough pressure built up no matter how hard you pump it and with proper ratio of liquid inside. Add to that this fan nozzle which spurts out basically two streams - one either side right left - and in the middle is a fine spurty mist at best. If you spray it fully pumped on dust you will see what am talking about. Two heavy streams right and left and more or less no coverage in between. Not acceptable for applying herbicides. The finer mist of the middle portion of the fan is also not a great thing if you are spraying in even light wind. I found myself having eye irritation even with goggles on as this fine mist was much too airborne and not being applied to the target besides the right left streams. The fan tip is great if you have dollars you don't mind spraying onto the ground and not reaching your target weeds. I found it too wide also and again, without proper pressure for herbicide application. The wide mouth is interesting but I found that it tended to 'float' the pump handle once inserted and this was not an easy slam dunk screw it down into place motion. You have to fiddle with it else the entire handle can start threading on crooked, necessitating unscrewing and resetting it. I also didn't like the wide mouth due to the fact most measuring cups that come with herbicides are smaller than the opening. With the old Chapin I could fill my measurer, load, rest the wet cup within the open mouth, turn and grab another jug and open and my measuring cup would be right there at the mouth for a quick easy pour then a rinse while adding the rest of the water. With the wide mouth you must rest the cup somewhere, side of cart, tractor, whatever, and risk a slight puff of wind blowing it onto the ground then needs a rinse off with water from dirt. I am finding myself having to take extra steps and time with this new sprayer, the job is already hard enough. It also does not heft up to carry well due to that skinny pump handle curcumerence. 2 gallon loads over and over create stress on plastic, it simply is not thick enough. No carrying strap, fine, would be nice tho.I also didn't like the wand handle or the hose. I have a feeling the lower pressure overall compared to my old Chapin is due to the circumference of the upgraded hose used. It's very thick around, bulky, and picky about being pliable according to which side it's coming out of as you're walking around and setting the sprayer down to pump and picking it back up. I found it would twist the wand unit in my hands forcing me to readjust my grip on the handle to unwind the hose into the direction it wanted to go . It also interfered with walking easily, it is not small circumference and more like working with a smaller version of a garden hose. I had to manipulate the head and wand tip various times trying to get a better looseness or feel. Not possible. The handle with the auto spray on tab is ok and I thought I would love it but again, it's awkward with that large hose on, the padded grip is nice but bulky. I found myself fighting both the wand and the sprayer itself too much. I'm used to hauling butt and seconds count. This sprayer just has too many strikes against it, I'll look for another. It's hard to find a decent two gallon with upgraded features as most upgrades come with 4 gallon. Not everyone wants to pack 4 gallons at a time on their back. We would appreciate upgrades on the 'lesser' models. I'm going to try and switch over my old Chapin hose tubing but don't think it will fit. The wide mouth there's nothing I can do, I don't see myself using this for very long. Two days work with it so far and things haven't improved, too much time wasted fighting the design,.EDIT: September now and I hate this sprayer more than anything. Tried the cone brass tip, it's not good, pressure is just awful no matter what unless you want to pump like Arnold every few seconds. I just had to come in to peel clothes off and wash my leg and foot well, as the freaking sprayer burbled up spray mix for no reason while in the middle of spraying a difficult to get to field. Felt wetness on my leg (not from bumping the pressure relief valve!) and looked down to find a lake of mixture now trickling down into my sock and boot. Spray mix came burbling out the center onto the ground and at $3 an ounce for some of these herbicides I'm not a fan of wasting product. Pulling the plunger up sucked it back down into the sprayer body. Naturally the return window for the sprayer just closed August 19th- delivered on July 22nd????!!!! - so am stuck with a krap sprayer. If I could give zero stars, I would. It's been the most annoying and poorly designed tool I've ever had to deal with. I called Chapin directly to ask about returning it or getting a discount on a Chapin sprayer I had used previously and really liked- cheaper too - and one not even listed specifically for use with herbicides. No dice. The customer service rep was nice enough but after going through everything on the phone while I was inspecting the sprayer for damage to the seals (none) her suggestion was that using Milestone* (Aminopyralid) was somehow the culprit. I beg to differ. At one ounce per two gallons water and 3 ounces of 2,4-D plus one ounce MSO (thin) this isn't a 'hot' mix, plus I clean the sprayer after use. It's not the amino, it's Chapin not wanting to make something right. I'm done with this brand. And if they are so sure aminpyralid is a no-go on their herbicide sprayers well they had best put that in writing in the listing description. They didn't want to deal with me so they lost a customer who has bought at least 3 Chapin sprayers over the years. I knew right away that the plunger handle and pump mechanism was going to be the weak link in this sprayer just from looking at it right out of the box - and I was right. If you only need to use this sprayer occasionally you're probably okay but if you're looking for a reliable workhorse look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, but I had to modify it to work better.
Reviewed in Canada on July 13, 2021
I use the sprayer multiple times every day in my small dairy and there are lots of things I like about it compared to my previous sprayer. I particularly like the 1/2" hose which is much less prone to freezing in cold weather. It's definitely sturdy and has a good pressure release button, which was another thing on my previous sprayer that was poorly designed.

I only use the sprayer for a few seconds each time so a full tank lasts for a couple of weeks but I found that it would lose pressure as soon as the water level dropped below the end of the pump cylinder. As shown in the photos, I've modified the unit by gluing a piece of ABS pipe onto the end of the pump cylinder so the water level has to drop much further before it losses pressure. This works well. If you do this be aware that ABS cement doesn't work well. A 2-part epoxy is more effective.
