Customers are mixed about the temperature settings of the slow cooker. Some mention that it has High, Low, and Keep Warm settings that are great for keeping hot dips warm. The automatic go to warm setting at the end of cook cycle is also very much needed. However, others say that the pot does get pretty hot, it's comparable to the heat from my old turn dial, and that it takes longer to heat up than their old crock pot.

starting to go and I didn't want to be caught without one day.
So far to "test" it I used it to make a " refried beans without the refry" recipe that I have made for years
and the cooker performed flawlessly. I did notice a little more liquid evaporated than usual but other than that
there was no difference in the time it took to cook.
Part of the reason I chose this crock-pot was ease of use.
I really just wanted as little fuss as possible, I didn't want to have to figure out
how to program the thing but I DID want to be able to set the time up and down
in 30 minute increments. So this fits that requirement for me perfectly.
The display is great , easy to see.
The outsides do get hot which I was aware of before I ordered - I keep mine up
up and back on a counter so that the little ones aren't able to touch it anyways so
not really a big deal.
The little crock included is ok..I used it to keep some nacho cheese dip warm for a small
party last week however the thing is a pain to clean since the liner doesn't come out.
I probably won't use it again.
Overall happy with this crock-pot :) It gets the job done.
The first time you use it, make sure you babysit it so you get used to the temperature settings. It does cook faster than you think. I burned cheese soup the first time I used it, but I was able to adjust after that. For instance, instead of cooking something at low for 6 hours, I do low for 1-2 hours and then let the warmer take over the remainder of the time so that it's ready when I get home. If I'm slow cooking meat, I only use "warm" after searing the meat. The only things I use the high setting for are soups that need to boil first and then simmer or stock cooking, otherwise, I cook everything on low or warm and it turns out perfectly.
The outer shell gets extremely hot as well, which isn't an issue for me, but it could be a potential hazard.
I was worried about the lid since it doesn't latch, but it fits securely and keeps the moisture in, so nothing gets dried out while cooking. I didn't experience any rattling or heat escaping from the lid like other reviewers did.
The smaller warmer is perfect for cheesy dip or artichoke spinach dip and it's serve-able at the table. We don't use it as much, but it's very handy for parties and holidays, so totally worth it as a freebie.
I purchased this item a year ago; and, USED it on average, once a week. Today, after a year, the heating element died. As usual, I set the timer, and on returning 30 minutes later realized the unit lights were off. I tried plugging it into other outlets to no avail. Soooo, I guess I have a crock bowl. I never found a use for the little side container. Needless to say, in spite of it performing beautifully, I will not buy this brand again. Even, if I was the 'lucky' person to get a defected unit, I am used to buying products that last far longer than a year. Hope this helps.
