4-Cup
Fat separator, 4-cup/900mL. Cut the fat with the GOOD GRIPS fat separator, now available in a convenient 2-cup size. Once the gravy has settled, remove the strainer and the stopper and pour out perfect gravy. A shield prevents the gravy from spilling over the top of the separator, instead of through the spout. This heat resistant fat separator, has measurement markings for increased convenience and a non-slip handle for a comfortable, firm grip. Dishwasher safe. (not recommended for use in micro-wave)

Most of my roast never have any more than a cup of drippings, so this two cup size is just perfect. Well designed in every aspect and it functions just as stated. It separates the fat from the drippings in about 3 minutes. The yellow band you see in the photo is not on the product . I guess it represents the fat of the drippings. This container also doubles as our gravy bowl as well. The unique spout makes pouring the gravy a blessing with very little drip from the spout. The handle is sturdy and makes using this item solid in your hands. The grey strainer on top simply removes at any time you desire and the item is dishwasher safe.
The first far separator I purchased many years ago. I think I used it once; it didn't do such a great job. Actually, it was useless.
I decided to try again recently and I'm so glad I did. This Oxo fat separator works like the proverbial charm. The secret is the silicon plug for the spout. If you make sure that plug is inserted before you pour in the liquid, you're golden. Because of the plug, nothing can get up the spout. Pour, let stand until the grease rises to the top, remove the plug, pour off the broth, and thats it. I also bought the largest size and I'm glad I did. The smaller ones wouldn't be big enough for soup broth.
Worked as designed. I opted for the 2 cup model due to storage limitations. The grey strainer fit loosely at the top, so make sure your thumb is on it to avoid any surprises when pouring after separation. The thin red markings on the sides can be difficult to read, but this is much better than a competitor who had clear markings. Perhaps a bolder font and thicker lines for the major demarcations will be better. The silicon plug is a key component — don't lose it!
This is great! Doesn't crack from heat exposure. The stopper is great to keep the neck empty while you fill the container. Downside: the grey "filter" would only filter anything pea-sized or larger so you still need a wire strainer for finer straining. Tub capacity is greater than the neck can hold with gravity pushing on the liquid, so if the tub is full the liquid will spew out the spout unless the plug is in place and you'll have to be quick to pour once you remove the plug
The first time I used this, it separated the fat perfectly. The other times, not so much. Do I have an excessive amount of fat to liquid? Or perhaps I need to let it settle for a longer period of time before I pour. I haven't given up, just it's not the magic I wanted it to be.
Bought 2 of these specifically for my 30lb Easter turkey. After years of pouring the drippings into tall glasses & sitting them in the freezer then using a spoon to try & remove as much fat as possible… this fat separator was amazing! Poured the hot drippings directly from the pan, the plug kept the fat from getting into the spout; it was quick & easy. Rinsed with hot soapy water before putting them in the dishwasher & they came out grease-free. Will be getting the 2 cup version also for when I do a chicken or small roast.
Perfect size for everyday use to make gravy with less fat. Used it the other day for millionaire beef and was able to separate the liquid that was present in hamburger and put back in dish rather than rinsing down drain. Also good in the sense that fat was thrown out rather than put down sewar system.
The wide opening at the top makes it easy to pour the juices out of a large hot pan without making a huge mess. You definitely want to keep the little plug in while you're pouring hot liquid in to prevent scalding hot meat juice spraying all over your kitchen! Easy to clean, I just throw in the top rack of the dishwasher.
