HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF ALL DELECTABLE SEXUAL TENSION WITH A HEAPING SIDE OF INCREDIBLE, HEART-STOPPING ROMANTIC TORTURE!!! My heart is beating out of my chest right now from the cliffhanger to shame all cliffhangers, but I must somehow get this review done before I get myself so far into Saving Grace that they start to mesh together! Five stars??!! Not nearly enough!!
First off, a standing ovation, high five, hand over the award now "Woot, woot!!" to Christine Zolendz for this absolutely incredible story! And what makes is so incredible, do you ask? The flawless recipe for an out-of-this world paranormal romance that leaves you breathless, that's what! Take bookgasm-worthy characters, an addicting plot that leaves you guessing, chemistry so intense that every minute is like the most maddening foreplay, and a torturous heart-thrashing that literally steals the air from your lungs, and you have this irresistible story! It's going to be difficult to talk about it in any detail without giving away what's behind the plot, but I don't want to ruin that surprise for anyone. Zolendz truly came up with a brilliant concept here, and I absolutely LOVED it!!!!
Grace is one of those characters that just keeps you in a constant state of either awe, frustration, or sheer pride for her awesomeness. I went through so many emotions for and with her, and when the book came to a close I felt like I knew every corner of her mind. She's strong and thick-skinned thanks to the pain and heartache she's had to endure, she's the sassy and quick-witted best friend you've always wished you had, and underneath it all she's got this vixen that is dying to come out and play. I went into this one blind, not knowing what her "secret" was, and I LOVED the twist, so I'm not going to give it away. But it was totally unexpected as this story starts out like your typical tension-filled contemp romance, and my heart just melted for Grace. As much as I wanted to throttle her for her stubbornness and often aloof treatment of Shane, deep down I couldn't be angry with the woman given what she's had to endure. And through it all, the girl was just plain bad-ass and had the hilarious banter making me love her even more.

And Shane...there just aren't words adequate to describe this walking temptation!!! He's unbelievably sexy and sweet in his bad-boy way, and he stops at nothing to get Grace to feel something for him. The chemistry with these characters was blazing inferno hot just from the smoldering looks and sexy yet innocent touches they gave each other, and I couldn't believe how much my heart raced in this story from even the briefest of moments between them! I love my smut and I love steamy scenes like nobody's business, and I stand by the statement that Zolendz will do to your body with foreplay what EL James, Sylvia Day, and Gena Showalter do with full-blown explosive sex scenes!! It was incredibly addicting!!

The whole bar and apartment setting made for one party session after another for these characters, and I loved the boys in Shane's band Mad World. They were sweet but all had a certain edge that made them so swoon-worthy!! And Grace's best friend Lea was another awesome character, always being the support and partner in crime when she needed it. After all the loss Grace had experienced, having Lea was the one constant that grounded her and gave her something to be happy about in a truly messed-up world.
I was literally glued to my iPad for the day as I read this story, because it was almost physically painful to leave it behind!! Steaminess and sexual tension aside, the mystery behind the twists and the heartbreaking torment for both Grace and Shane had my stomach just in knots. Imagine that torturous forbidden love, jealousy, and drama that you find in your favorite love stories, and ratchet that up several notches and spread that across an entire story...yes, this one is very hard on the pulse!! It was blissfully perfect torment, and I relished in every moment of their self-inflicted pain because it was obvious how much they were meant to be together. That fact alone made the suffering that much more intense, and I just ate it up!! Perfection!!
I'm going to stop this now, because I flew right into Saving Grace after reading this and now I'm simply crazed needing to go back to it!! This series is an ABSOLUTE MUST-READ, and it's shot it's way into my top 5 favorite PNR for sure...maybe even higher!! Awesome, incredible, unforgettable, astounding...READ IT NOW!!!!
