As with every 3m product I have used I'm super happy with this purchase. One light needed sanding the other was just hazy. The hazy one looked new after two coats. After sanding the other it cleaned right up as well. I ended up putting the 3m headlight protection which was some wipes in a small package that adds uv protection. When I added that clear coat they really shined up. Both now look like new assemblies. I will continue to recommend 3m products to all my friends.
I set out to clean my headlights thinking this would be a long challenging job like it had been in the past. The truth of the matter was that it wasn't a long job and even doing it by hand wasn't hard at all. I used two microfiber cloths, one to buff the product on and the other to clean it off. A very small amount of the product went a long way which told me right away that this small bottle would last a long while.
On my first headlight I rubbed on the product and then buffed it off and the whole thing was clean and clear in under 10 minutes. I was really impressed with how easy it was to get the lens clear again. It looked really nice again without a ton of effort. I spent under 20 minutes from start to finish on both headlights (including taking photos). I assume that if your headlights are really bad that it will take some time to buff off all the haze. After I had both headlights cleaned up I put a protectant over the top to help slow the hazing process. It's been 3 weeks since I did this and my headlights still look nice and clear. I'm very pleased and will order another bottle to have on hand for back up.

I did 4 total passes with 3" buffing pads attached to a drill.
I purchased the pads here on Amazon. Pads are color coded from toughest to softest.
Taped off around the lights with blue painters tape.
4 passes on each headlight using the same coarse pad.
Each pass took me about 5 minutes using low - medium speed. Start slow or the stuff slings everywhere.
After a few minutes, wipe it off. Repeat.
After that I did 1 pass on each headlight with meguiars plastx using the next less coarse pad.
Same technique with the drill.
After that I did 1 pass each headlight using turtle wax headlight cleaner/sealant with the next softest pad.
Same technique with drill.
Wiped and buffed.
Then I removed the tape and cleaned any product around the edges.
Clean any product you slung onto the surrounding paint.
Finished the headlights with a light coat of synthetic spray wax.
I only used the plastx because i already had it. The 3m product did most of the work. I did notice the plastx helped removed some of the finer scratches.
Take your time and work in the shade. If your headlights are really bad you will need to wetsand first.
On my first attempt I did not use this product - so when spraying the clear UV protectant - the lights turned out someone of a satin like finish I was not happy with. From 5 feet away they look good - but - upon closer inspection - not exactly what I was aiming for.
On my 2nd headlight restoration - I used this 3m product - this time using my buffer - this product made the lights really clear after wet sanding. From there - I used the spray UV protectant to finish things off = 100% clear finish, no haze, nearly OEM.
Steps I recommend to do your headlights the RIGHT way (yes - this will take more time).
1) Wash car/headlights
2) Dry car/headlights
3) Use Extra blue tape / take your time when taping off lights.
4) Obtain a kit with 400-800-1200-1600 grit sandpapers
5) Wet sand - try going ONE direction NOT circles!
6) Apply 3m Lens & hard plastic cleaner - best to use a 3" buffer wheel for best results
7) Use alcohol wipe to remove/clean lenses once clear
8) Spray UV protectant over lenses
9) Let lenses dry for about 10 minutes before removing blue tape
10) Do not let any water hit lenses for a minimum of a full day for proper cure time
