Sex Says Kindle Edition
Let me, Lola Sexton, be the first to tell you…it sucks.
As the writer behind Sex Says, a successful relationship column at the San Francisco Times, I’m a pro at advising others on their love lives. Unfortunately, I don’t have quite as good a handle on my own.
It’s for the best, though, when the prospects act like Reed freaking Luca.
Reed is a wanderer and a jack of all trades, and he doesn’t believe happiness comes from a nine to five job, or that success is delivered through a paycheck.
You’d think a guy like that wouldn’t end up in a career that’s a problem for me, but opportunity often finds its way to those who aren’t looking.
When Reed is hired by a rival newspaper to write an anti-Sex Says relationship column, the result is all out war.
I hate Reed. Really, I do.
It’s just too bad the gorgeous guy is so darn likable.

Reed, a sort of man child, was such a unique hero. A compulsive liar, manipulator, didn’t stick with the same odd job for more than a few weeks, prankster, and at the same time, funny, charming, easy going, “good with money”, genuine, and of course crazy gorgeous. He was full of contradictions and yet very comfortable with going with the flow of life as he saw fit. In short, he was extremely likable.
Lola was just incredible. I absolutely LOVE heroines that are quirky, sort of weird (or in Lola’s case, very weird), and are absolutely unapologetic about it. She took a roller skating class with seven year old’s, and a palm reading class just so she could manipulate Reed into doing things she wanted. Hilarious. I loved her interactions with Reed, but also just with everyone. Everyone she came across couldn’t help but love her.
If you are a fan of romcom’s than you really need to read Sex Says, by Max Monroe. No OW/OM drama. There was a fair amount of angst in the first half of the book when Reed and Lola are still enemies, but it gets really sweet and steamy after that. Happy reading!
HEA, duel POV, no cheating, no triggers.

With Sex Says, the duo move away from their franchise and introduce new characters, a new location, and new conflicts. And it is FANTASTIC.
Lola writes a romance column for a San Francisco newspaper, always offering (somewhat heavy-handed) advice to the love - or sex - lorn. Reed, a guy whose idea of a steady job is one that lasts three weeks, happens to read one of her articles and responds via a YouTube video. Before you can say, "Gone viral," Reed has been hired to fire off his opposing point of view for each of Lola's columns.
Lola decides she hates him, but Reed decides he likes Lola a LOT.
Yeah, the premise feels predictable with its shades of You've Got Mail. But Max Monroe make it feel fresh and new, and that's largely because of Reed. He is a Hot Hero who zigs when you think he will zag. As he puts it, he does not like to do what others expect. This, of course, frustrates Lola to no end, and watching her try to outwit him is hilarious. After the three strong, memorable heroines from the Billionaire Bad Boys series, it's fun to meet Lola. She undoubtedly would fit in well with Georgia, Cassie, and Winnie, but she is decidedly her own person. She is so resolutely independent that she cannot believe that she will ever deign to get married. Who needs that official piece of paper when what really counts is how you feel?
Max Monroe make you think that Lola will be the linchpin of this relationship, but it turns out that that responsibility falls to Reed, the guy who eschews permanence with vigorous determination. He has spent over 30 years moving from one interest to another, convincing himself that life is a series of adventures to enjoy. And he's right, to some extent. What he didn't factor in was enjoying those experiences with someone by his side.
One thing I particularly enjoyed: both Reed and Lola have loving, supportive families. There is no Big Trauma in their backgrounds to keep them from each other, no Emotional Torment that impedes their relationship. Instead, their decisions to be together or not are based solely on their own thoughts and feelings, and that, faithful readers, is a lovely thing indeed.
Come meet Reed and Lola, and experience this next step of Max Monroe's writing. It's pretty fantastic.

Loved it - loved Lola, loved that she was eclectic, and owned it. Loved Reed, he was smart, he noticed Lola right away, and went for it.
I would like to see more of these characters, to see if they get married, and actually have kids, and how that goes over.
I was really invested in their lives, which shows you what a great story it was.
Loved this book, love these authors.
