Product Description
In the vein of classic coming-of-age films like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club, The Edge of Seventeen is a poignant and hilarious look at what it's like to be a teenager today. Growing up is hard, and life is no easier for Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld, Pitch Perfect 2), who is already at peak awkwardness when her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson, Ravenswood) begins dating her all-star brother Darian (Blake Jenner, Glee). All at once, Nadine feels more alone than ever. With the help of her reluctant sounding-board (Woody Harrelson, True Detective), she soon discovers that what feels like the end of the world may just be the beginning of growing up. Also starring Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), see the movie critics are calling "an instant high school movie classic" (Dave Ehrlich, IndieWire).

Nadine, given to histrionics, runs into her teacher’s room for another of her dripping with sarcasm issues. Mr. Bruner (Woody Harrelson) puts up with another misguided and disillusioned tirade of Nadine's before passing it off in a brilliant bit of witty sarcasm himself. Basically, they wouldn’t expect either to say anything but what they do and seem to understand each other well. Nadine is as witty and awash in sarcasm as a teen can be and is well able to use it. She thinks her mother; Lola (Kyra Sedgwick), odd, quirky, and self-involved while never giving any credence to what Darian has had to handle with her. Lola heavily leans on Darian’s opinions, help, and guidance.
Nadine is under the influence that there is a great guy she is has a crush on working at a pet store, while all the while in one of her classes; a young documentary filmmaker is crushing on her, Erwin (Hayden Szeto). Nadine must figure out who she is being real about and whom Nadine could really care less about. This film is not your ordinary teen slice of life film or one strictly for adolescents. Adults will find this banter a lot of fun too. Writer and director Kelly Fremon Craig pulled many rabbits out of her hat to surprise and delight you with the dialog, the wonderful sarcastic wit, and the superb soundtrack in this movie. Woody Harrelson could have easily taken over this movie but he holds back and allows Hailee Steinfeld to shine… and shine she does. I absolutely love this film!
