This is an excellent book on the practice and business of travel writing, not only because the authors are experts in the field and know whereof they write, but most important, because they very quickly dispel the well publicized myth that travel writing is a quick and easy field to break into for the legions of retirees hoping to soon become well-funded expats simply by picking up laptop and digital camera in the exotic locale of their dreams and submitting away --- no talent or experience or contacts required! It is a useful, thorough and often sobering read, and especially for the writer with some experience. Highly recommended.

Lots of practical advice in the first half with an engaging read. By the end it started to get away from being as relevant, but still definitely worth it. One problem, although maybe it was just with Kindle formatting, was the list of like 10 professional Q&As in a row. It got kind of repetitive and would have been more interesting if they were spread throughout.

Excellent guide to travel writing. Provides solid technical advice on how to approach this particular type of writing with how to structure an article overall and how you might approach writing each type of section. Many examples. Also provides advice on how to write query letters and submit your article for publication. Great advice for novice writers or those thinking about pursuing this. There were also numerous references to publications that one could pursue.

Don George has put a really helpful book together to encourage and teach. The book was very helpful to me. The message keeps coming through that there is no money in travel writing. If it's you passion and you have to write about where you've been then this book will help you do it anyway.

Travel blogging is a trend but most travel bloggers don't know how to write a travel story - they just give us a collection of facts, the same that we can find in any travel guide. Lonely Planet Travel Writing Handbook is great to learn the bits and pieces of the craft from the very best travel writers: they share what good travel writing is and they take us on a trip to that side of the publishing industry that we seldom see, namely, what makes a travel editor pick your story out from the rest. Plenty of examples of terrific travel writing, useful tips, and an entertaining writing style make this book a very enjoyable one.

Buona scuola per travel writer. Peccato che buona parte delle fonti citate si limitano ad un solo mercato, ma si può usare la tecnica anche per ricavarsi fonti italiane
