You should reapply often for best performance because it removes metal fast and the efficiency goes down--this is true for all green compounds. But again, if you are a casual user, you can absolutely load up a strop generously and use it for several months on end. Remember you can also strop on cardboard, MDF/fiberboard, paper, wood, and more. Your knives and tools can be touched up a few times on this before you need to actually sharpen them on a stone again.
The bar is hard like a crayon and you rub it on the strop and work it into the strop as best you can. I have even seen video of people using a smooth poster board with buffing compound and using it to strop hone a knife blade. The buffing compound is what does the work.
The package arrived in about 3 days so the delivery was fast. It works well and it is priced fairly so I rated it at 5 stars.
The price is the only reason I didn't rate this five stars though. I really can't criticize the performance of this extra fine green compound. Prior to this, the only compound I'd used came with a Worksharp Guided Sharpening System. But I wanted some much bigger strops for my larger knives. So, I grabbed some scrap leather at a hobby shop and purchased this, along with an Enkay 149-C 6 pack of 5-6oz bars of various grit compounds (black, brown, white, green, red, blue), also sold on amazon, at the same time for experimenting with different abrasive consistencies. As a wood worker by trade, I already had plenty of scrap wood for mounting the strops too, which Elmers or Gorilla wood glue worked just fine. This extra-fine green was considerably darker and less dry (softer) then the green in the set of 6 I bought. Woodstock D2902 is very similar in consistency with the small piece of green compound that came with the Worksharp, and worked into the leather strop better than Enkay's green, even without heating the leather first or conditioning it with petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
For most blade polishing, green is really all you need, in addition to your water stones, diamond plates, or ceramic rod for the bulk of your sharpening. But I think black has some benefits if your blade is particularly dull or after re-profiling or changing the edge geometry to something that cuts better than the secondary bevels that come on most knives. White seems to be popular for knives and chisel sharpening too. For blade sharpening, at this point, I don't think there's anything that brown can do that black can't do better. And the same seems true of green, relative to red and blue grits, which cut even less. Green already polishes to a mirror finish and red and blue are going to remove even less material, so their usefulness seems limited to polishing other metals for more cleaning related purposes.
Amazon does need to update the picture though. With the current exception of red and white, the pictures provided by other customers are MUCH more accurate and make the product look more professional and appealing than the pictures provided by amazon for this listing in green.
I guess I can still use it, but a little disappointed that it's broken. Not that easy to apply. I used a heat gun as others suggested and it's very hard to get an even application. Lots of bumps with parts of the leather being very thinly coated with compound while others have a very thick coating. I do noticed a difference after stropping on it, though so I guess it works.
Also much cheaper per oz compared to every other similar product I've seen on here.

He asentado varios filos por mucho tiempo y apenas he logrado que las esquinas de la primer porción se redondeen.
BUT almost no effect on super steel, the vanadium and the carbide in the super steels are way too hard for this compound, DONT expect any performance out from this compound on super steels.
Updates:
This compound seems to work well with Fallkniven COS steel. Gives a very very fine edge. However using this compound on S30V is just a wast of time.
