I was sucked in from the start of this book. The prologue was GREAT and made me want to keep reading.

Preston is a dark, cold, trained assassin…. How cool is his job!? Not going into details, but I really hope people like him do exist! Preston is dark and heartless while Emma is light and happiness. These two met a few years ago in college but Preston just disappeared over night. Years later the fates bring them together through their job. Preston was such a moody bloke. I'd have given up on him! There's only so many times you can be given the brush off. Poor Preston has lost a lot since he and Emma last saw each other and Emma could be the only one to bring him back from the dark side.

I got chills and had a bit of a cry reading this story. There is murder, suspense and love in the pages waiting for you to read them. The writing is spot on. You understand their emotions and feel them.

I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to read Wades story.

My first LP Dover read and I'm sure not my last (I look forward to the next book in the series). Written in dual POV, a lovely second chance romance with drama, love and passion. Preston is in love with Emma, but he has needs and to meet those needs he is taken away from her during their college years. Emma has never forgotten Preston, but she has no idea where he went 8 years years ago, he just upped and disappeared. 8 years later they meet unexpectedly and Preston is ignoring her, pretending he doesn't even remember her. But, circumstances are pushing them together and they can't run away from their feelings. Preston has got to come to terms with his past and let Emma into his current life to enable them to have a future. There's a killer on the loose and time is of the essence, Preston is determined to solve the crimes whilst protecting Emma. Fast paced and exciting. An enjoyable read that had me unable to put the book down.

Trigger by L.P. Dover is a standalone romance that flirts with darkness without allowing the reader to fully sink into it. It is romantic and angsty, a second-chance romance, and a book about retribution and making the guilty pay.

Emma is happy with her life. She has a great job that pays well for not having to do much and then she realizes why...

Preston has fully embraced his dark side and his addiction and believes there is no coming back for him but when his path crosses with an old almost-flame there starts to be a glimmer of hope. One he doesn't even see at first he is so bogged down in his addiction.

Powerful, steamy, deep and emotional. Loved it!

When Preston Hale was in college, he had it pretty good. Lead singer in a band, he had just about anything he wanted. Then one night on his way out, he witnesses a woman being attacked and his actions caused his life to be changed forever. After that incident, he disappeared without a trace, no one, not even his band knew what happened to him.
Eight years later and Preston is met with a vision from his past. Emma Turner was a member of his college band and the one woman he could have fallen for if his heart was whole. Now forced to work in the same vicinity, it takes all of Preston’s willpower not to fall for her. He’s afraid she will turn tail and run when she finds out what he actually does for a living.
Emma can't believe that after disappearing one night eight years ago he has resurfaced. Eventually, she finds out what caused the disappearance and what he's been doing since the night he took off. She also finds what happened to his mother and sister when he was a teen. She is out to prove to him that she still wants to be there for him and with him.
Now it's up to Preston to decide his next move.
I have read many books by Ms. Dover and I can tell you with 100% honesty that her books just keep getting better. This book was a non-stop page turner. I didn’t even want to put it down to go to sleep. The book then invaded my dreams. You know you have a winner when that happens.

The blurb for this book had me intrigued, and so when Trigger hit my Kindle I knew I needed to start reading it ASAP, and I'm glad I did. Once I started this book I wasn't able to put it down!

We meet Preston who is one complicated guy. When we first meet him, he seems like your average college guy, and then WHAM he's a cold blooded killer, but as you get to know more about him, there's so much more depth, and everything is not as it seems with him. He has reasoning behind his killing and he really isn't the bad guy you think he is when you first see the new Preston. When he's brought in by his boss to try to calm things down, he never expected to see the one girl he let get away when he left his old life behind, Emma.

Emma is enjoying her life as an assistant to Glen, she's making good money for not doing much. She's living the life, and that's perfect since she still gets to write music on the side when she's not helping Glen write proposals and being there when he needs her. When she finds sees Preston for the first time in years she's in shock and then she's furious, but the attraction to him is still there, and she's set on trying to find out why he up and left without a word to any of their friends.

These two push each other away so many times, and throughout everything secrets are revealed, sometimes by the people that probably shouldn't be revealing the, but for the good of everyone involved. To say that I was shocked by some of the revelations would be an understatement, but it really helped put a lot of things into perspective in this book. When these two need to work together to find a killer things definitely get interesting, and their connection can no longer be denied.

So much happens in this book that definitely can not be written or discussed in a review without giving the entire book away, but I will say, L.P. Dover did a fantastic job of weaving this story together and keeping me on my toes from beginning to end. I adored Preston and Emma's characters and their story. I loved each twist and turn she took us on and I was on pins and needles for much of the last quarter of this book praying nothing bad was going to happen. This book was a definite shift in the books I've been reading, and I enjoyed everything about it. It was sexy, and suspenseful and the story-line was amazing. How this book ended with these characters made me so happy and I can't wait to read Wade's story and see what secret's he's hiding in the Circle of Justice!

I highly recommend Trigger if you're a lover of steamy romantic suspense novels. This book did NOT disappoint!

Trigger has to be my favorite book in the past year. It is a story line that has not been done a million times and is completely fresh and original.

Preston Hale is a man whose job it is is to kill people that the justice system can't. He is a hunky sexy man that you would love to have to yourself. He is loving his life and his job until Emma Turner makes an appearance from his past. She is a reminder to how he was before the job.

Will Emma still like Preston? Is he willing to give anything up for her?

You will need to read to find out. You will not be disappointed by the emotional ride that L.P. Dover puts you through as you read this story and wish that the next one was out already.

It does not end in a cliff hanger... It does have an ending. Once you read this book, just know there are many many more amazing books by L.P. Dover.

This is a seriously good book, it's a thrilling, murder mystery romance that I couldn't put down until I found out who the murderer was, by then I was hurtling toward the gripping climax of this brilliant read. I loved it and would highly recommend it!
I can't wait for Wade's story in the next Circle Of Justice Novel: Target.
