ZEKE DANIELS ISN'T JUST A DOUCHEBAG, HE'S AN A$$HOLE.

I've been called a total and complete jerk, but that's only because I keep people at a distance. I have no interest in relationships—most assholes don’t. Dating? Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for me.
I've never given any thought to what I wants in a girlfriend because I've never had any intention of having one.
Shit, I barely have a relationship with my family, and we're related;
my own friends don’t even like me.

So why do I keep thinking about Violet DeLuca? Sweet, quiet Violet—my opposite in every sense of the word. The light to my dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit. And that pisses me off, too.

f anyone would have asked me if I'd be shedding tears and falling in love with Zeke Daniels in the first book I would've laughed my butt off. But wow after reading this book I have such a soft spot for Zeke and it's honestly making me mad haha.I loved that even though Zeke was very much an douche we didn't have to see anything with him and other women. That was probably the one thing I really disliked about book one and I'm happy to see that the author didn't continue that with this book. But back to Zeke: I loved his redemption arc and I loved that it was realistically done. By the end of the book he was still kind of a douche and he's still rough and not exactly easy to be around but he's trying much harder to let the people who care about him in and not be so quick to push away his friends and loved one.Violet was such a patient heroine. And even though by all accounts, some might consider her a bit weak, she was to me a very strong and capable young woman. She was the type of person who was hurting just as bad as Zeke but while he took it out on everyone and made sure everyone knew, she was the opposite. She kept it to herself, she tried to forgive and move on not letting things keep her down. She was so nice and I love when she would tell Zeke off it was honestly the best thing ever.I loved that we got more about the Jameson and Oz and got to see them interacting with their friends outside of each other. Oh and their sex scenes were off the freaking chart HAWT. Zeke and Violet have some intense chemistry together. And when I say their chemistry is off the charts I mean OFF. THE. FREAKING. CHARTS.But what I loved most about this book was the way that Zeke would talk about his feelings for Violet. Man, that guy really made me sigh and swoon like it was nobody's business. I love when someone like Zeke who is so hard and angry and always scowling gets soft for the girl that he loves. It makes my heart melt seeing him want the best for her and willing to do things he's never done before to make her happy.Overall this was another really great hit in the series and now I need to go on Amazon and get the next two books because I am so obsessed right now and need more!

This is the second book in How to date a douchebag series, but it works perfectly well as a standalone... although I recommend you to read the first one before you dive into this installment... let's just say that the series has its name for a reason... and as much as Oz, the hero from book #1 is a jerk, Zeke, the hero of this novel is much worse... but I will get to that in a second :) K, #BookBestie who recommended this series to me said, that even if the first story would not be exactly what I liked, that I should definitely give this second installment a try, cause it's her favourite... and after reading it, I have to agree with her opinion :) I absolutely loved it... and let me tell you why :)

First, let me say a bit more about our main couple :) Zeke is... well, saying he's a jerk is a big understatement, but I can't really curse in my review so exchange that adjective for a better one in your own mind ;) we met him in the first book, and even then I wondered how... just how will he become a worthy hero of this second book? ;) he's a wrestler in college, and a very... distant person... he's mean and crude and just... not a good person... I won't blame you if you won't like him at all at the beginning of the book... but stay with me :) because then we have Violet... and where Zeke is horrible, mean and just physically a huge guy, Violet is... kind, warm and tiny :) she's also vulnerable and stutters... which gave me huge "Devil in winter" vibes :) in case you don't know that awesome story, it's a historical romance by Lisa Kleypas and the heroine there also stutters... it's also one of my all time favourite books :) but back to the review of this story :) Zeke and Violet couldn't be more different, and I had no idea how thye could end up together... like... zero clues whatsoever... :) which of course made me that much more curious to see how everything will resolve :) theirs is definitely a slow burn relationship... with them spending a bit more time together because of some external circumstances and not because they are genuinly interested in one another... :) I don't really want to get into too many details, so that you can experience it without any spoilers whatsoever, but the story is amazing ;)

This book definitely gave me Beauty and the beast sort of vibes... *sighs dreamily* you may not know that about me, but it's only like my favourite trope in books ;) so the more I read about rude and grumpy Zeke and the lovely Violet... the more I saw how her kindness sort of... rubbed off on him and slowly influenced the change in his behaviour... the more I fell in love with the story... especially the more you get to know him, the better you understand him and why he acts this certain way... plus, there are definitely a few such beautiful surprises when it comes to him... :) don't get me wrong, it's not like he's suddenly prince charming, but there's definitely redeeming qualities there... :) no more details because of my no-spoilers-in-review rule, but I loved their story... especially since I am a huge fan of slow burn relationships, where the main couple actually takes time to know one another before there's anythign else between them... here, they had this... weird sort of friendship at the beginning... once they moved past him being a complete jerk of course :) Zeke as a hero... grew on me, I definitely wasn't a fan from the start... Violet on the other hand... I adored that girl :) yes, she was kind and lovely, but also brave and tough when the situation needed it... she kept a beautiful heart even with everything that happened in her life... I just wanted to hug her, and then smack Zeke for the amount of time that it took him to see what's in front of him... ;) the writing style was once again absolutely phenomenal... hilarious, sexy and very emotional when needed... not only that, but once again I listened to the audiobook version of the story, like I did with the first installment, and the narrators were once again perfection... :) I very highly recommend you guys this story... please, don't be discouraged by how much you hate Zeke after that first book... because I had some very serious doubts how Sara Ney can change my mind about him... but his journey is so worth to witness... :) you will laugh, tear up and sigh... but most of all you will fall in love with this story... so pick it up now :)

NO SPOILERS!

The Failing Hours was another great standalone sports romance in the How to Date a Douchebag series, and I really enjoyed it! The storyline and characters were wonderful, and I once again loved Sara Ney’s writing style and amazing sense of humor. The Failing Hours was my second novel from this author, my first was The Studying Hours, and I’ll be honest, I loved TSH more than I did TFH, but the latter was still a great read nonetheless.

Zeke and Violet were wonderful, Violet more so than Zeke, and I really enjoyed them and their story. Zeke was a major douchebag (no surprise there!) and it took me a while to warm up to him, but once I did, I actually really liked him. I loved Violet and really felt a connection with her. I liked that she and Zeke were opposites in a lot of ways, but they still complemented each other well and were a good fit together. I liked their personalities and chemistry together, and how their friendship/relationship progressed throughout. There were a few rough patches along the way and some things that I didn’t like as much. It felt like something special was missing that would have made The Failing Hours a five star read for me, but otherwise I really enjoyed Zeke and Violet’s story. I loved reading the book from both Zeke and Violet’s POV, and I enjoyed most of their banter and interactions with each other. It wasn’t always an easy or pleasant journey, but it was still enjoyable and I’m glad that I read it.

The Failing Hours was a sexy, humorous, and entertaining standalone sports romance in the How to Date a Douchebag series, and I would definitely recommend it! Sara Ney did a great job with this book, and even though it hasn’t been my favorite from her so far, I was pleased with the conclusion to Zeke and Violet’s story. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

And once again, one more book about the same universe. Here we have Zeke- a complete idiot (seriously, Oz is a sweet guy in comparison). I love sports romance (mostly because of the arrogant guys) but Zeke is exasperating. Sometimes I couldn't see a happy ending in this book- again, all because of Zeke. But Violet balances her sweetness (even if sometimes I wished that she would lift and retaliate). In the end, this is a good book, so I definitely recommend it.

I've previously read a book or two by this author. For some reason, I connect with the story till about 30% of the book and that's about it. Same was the case with this one. I didn't like the hero. He was angry at the world. I do know childhood trauma is not something to be trivialized at all, but I didn't get his hatred for any sort of relationship, even for friendship.
I did like the heroine. There were times I did not like how easily she let him off for rude and insensitive comments. Angry at the world without a filter or not, no one body shames another. But well, the hero did. It made me scrunch up my nose and wonder WHY?!!
The storyline was not great either. All in all, I couldn't connect with the book or its characters.

Maybe this author is not for me.

I devoured this book by a pool in Mallorca, and I was so captivated that I forgot to turn and add sunscreen 😂
Well ups... it’s not my fault! It was just so good!

Violet was a sweetheart. It was so easy to relate to her, and Zeke was a total jerk, but at the same time, a disguised softie! I loved this pairing! I guess it’s true that opposites really do attract!

The writing was brilliant, sassy and entertaining!

This book is so different from the studying hours.
Here we have two broken souls, but each one facing its issues a different way.
Zeke is coldness, sarcasm and hate on a stick while Violet is the synonym of kindness, friendship and heart.
They are total opposites, yet they are drawn together.
And they fit perfectly together.
it was amazing to see big grumpy Zele slowly being captured by quiet Violet, to see him surrendering to her sweetness.
I was a douchebag like Zele for me, because behind the harsh facade, there is a heart full jerk, who can be an incredible big bro for little Kyle.
The other characters are also very entertaining, James is still James and Oz is a perfect friend not buying any sh*t from Zeke.
So do not deprive you of hours of fun wrapped in a douchebag ribbon.
