What's in the box
Product Description
Say goodbye to dull and frequent lead breakage with the engineered design of the uni-ball KuruToga Mechanical Pencil. This mechanical pencil features an exclusive rotating lead mechanism that resists lead breakage and maintains a continuous sharp point. Simply put--as you write, the pencil continuously rotates and sharpens the lead. Unlike regular mechanical pencils that produce thicker, lighter lines after a few uses, the KuruToga stays sharp, so it produces the same thin, dark line that you start out with, making your handwriting clearer and more precise. What’s even better is that the KuruToga contains exclusive diamond-infused lead. It not only improves your writing experience, but also creates dark vivid lines.

I'll start with a general list of highlights for those who want the short and sweet overview:
- Very lightweight, ergonomically designed, and aesthetically pleasing
- "Diamond infused led" (significantly stronger than regular 0.5)
- Rotating led to prevent breakage
- Clearer and cleaner writing
- "Starter Pack" includes two additional erasers and extra led at a great price
- Left-hand friendly!
- Eraser cap for sleek look
Room for Growth:
- Light pencil grip cushion
- Wider/larger eraser
I am a true office supply aficionado; constantly on the hunt for innovations to make my student life more livable. I prefer to take hand-written notes whenever possible because it facilitates improved memory and integration of ideas. One of the areas that I struggle with most however, is identifying products that are error-friendly. In other words, writing tools that are erasable. Pencils are an obvious choice of course, but finding options that are comfortable and efficient can be a challenge.
The Uni-Ball Kuru Toga Pencil (0.5 mm led) is FANTASTIC! The 0.5 mm diamond-infused led is so much stronger than conventional mechanical pencil led. I often need 0.7 or 0.9 to accommodate my firm writing style. The Kuru Toga allows for a thinner and darker pencil line by preventing the lead from snapping in half. The note on the package also indicates that the led rotates while in use to prevent breakage, and this is absolutely true!
The two areas for growth include:
Increased eraser size (both in circumference and length) and a very thin pad for pencil-grip. As described above, I erase, a lot. I can burn through a pencil top eraser pretty quickly, so the bigger the better.
Also described above, the pencil is incredibly light weight, and a grip pad is non-essential, but I can imagine it would be important for some folks. I actually prefer the aesthetic of the pencil without any kind f grip pad; it's much more sleek and streamlined.
It can be challenging to get excited about pencils in this day and age, but the Kuru Toga has managed the feat.

**Auto Sharpening Mechanism:**
The standout feature of the Kuru Toga is its unique auto-sharpening mechanism. This mechanism rotates the lead slightly every time you lift the pencil from the paper, ensuring a consistently sharp point. This innovation eliminates the need for manually rotating the pencil to maintain a sharp edge, providing a smooth and uninterrupted writing experience.
**0.7 mm Lead Size:**
The 0.7 mm lead size strikes a perfect balance between precision and durability. It allows for fine lines and details in writing and drawing without being overly fragile. The HB #2 lead is versatile, suitable for various tasks from note-taking to detailed sketches.
**Consistent Line Quality:**
Thanks to the auto-rotation feature, the Kuru Toga maintains a consistent line width, reducing the risk of uneven strokes or breakage. This is especially valuable for those who prioritize neat and professional-looking notes or drawings.
**Comfortable Grip:**
The pencil features a comfortable grip that allows for extended periods of use without causing discomfort or fatigue. The ergonomic design ensures a secure hold, making it suitable for long writing sessions or intricate drawing projects.
**Durable Construction:**
Constructed with durability in mind, the Kuru Toga is a reliable and long-lasting mechanical pencil. The build quality is evident in its ability to withstand daily use without showing signs of wear and tear. This durability adds to its overall value and makes it a dependable tool for everyday tasks.
**Lead Refills and Erasers:**
The availability of lead refills and erasers designed specifically for the Kuru Toga ensures that I can easily maintain and extend the lifespan of the pencil. The convenience of having dedicated refills eliminates any compatibility issues and ensures a seamless replacement process.
**Ideal for Precision Work:**
The combination of the auto-rotating mechanism and the fine 0.7 mm lead size makes the Kuru Toga ideal for precision work. Whether I'm working on intricate drawings, mathematical equations, or detailed notes, this pencil consistently delivers sharp and precise lines.
**Overall Satisfaction:**
In summary, the **uni-ball Kuru Toga Mechanical Pencil** has become my go-to writing and drawing tool. Its innovative auto-sharpening mechanism, comfortable design, and reliable performance make it a standout choice for anyone seeking a high-quality mechanical pencil for everyday use.
I pick it up and I feel inspired to put beautiful letters on paper. I am looking forward to using
