Tracy Cooper-Posey is the author of the popular Once and Future Hearts historical fantasy romance series, among others. She writes romantic suspense, historical, paranormal, fantasy and science fiction romance, plus women’s fiction. She also writes under the pen names of Cameron Cooper (science fiction) and Taylen Carver (fantasy). This short story gives the reader a taste of life on the Endurance specifically the game that seems to obsess the entire ship, Tankball.
Quiver is trying out for the Dreamhawks at the encouragement of her parents and her friend, Micah (yes, that Micah from Promissory Note). She would rather be a coder, but she has real talent as a topman in Tankball. Crave is the captain of the team and skeptical of the newbie. The title gives away the romantic coupling in this sweet story. It also gives us some insight into Micah’s accident that so profoundly changes him in Promissory Note.
While this is a stand alone book, it gives us information about a vital part of the Endurance’s daily life.

The problem with good short stories is that you are always wanting more! Avid readers are a greedy lot! I have read all of the Endurance series and so this little snippet gave me a familiar environment but with a very different slant on the lives of a small section of the passengers on this ship.
I really did enjoy it. It enriches the understanding of readers of the series but I would say that someone new to the series might be a tad lost. I do strongly encourage them to catch up with the rest of the stories though!

A delightful short sci-fi love story. The author has given us a whole lot of story on just a few pages, a story filled with a magnificent game grown from her imagination. A game which can be played by either sex, as long as they have the heart, strength, energy and talent to play. But our heroine is torn between careers and the memory of what once was and her wish to not be hurt again. This is a quick read filled with great moments, be sure and get it and continue to meet some fascinating people living on the Endurance through it's long journey to a new home.

Quiver is trying out for the tankball team the Dreamhawks – a talented topman who plays best in zero gravity. The team captain Kallon is a main reason she may not stick with the team.

Watching the game from the team bench was a new experience for Quiver. When she notices the walls “singing” she lets the coach know there is a danger to the players. The senior players and those who overhear laugh at her warnings.

She and Jack grew knew each other when they were younger, but he didn’t recognize her as she is now.
The challenges of the game and the relationship make for a fun read.

I reviewed this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This Romance had me quivering with feel good emotions and craving more of the life onboard the generation space ship the Endurance. The backdrop to the drama is the game tankball. Things kick off when Quiver tries out for a team, because her parents and friend Micha encouraged her to. It is a bitter sweet story, with a happy ending.I love how Tracy ties every book in her series to one another. Every story is a single thread and together they weave a beautiful tapestry. The story can be read as an individual book, but will make more sense if read in the order of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Another winner although I would have loved a longer version to really get to know Quiver and Kal. Loved Quiver's devotion to the people around her even when it wasn't something she really wanted to do (how many of us have done exactly the same thing). I enjoyed the write up about Tankball and how it was played - something we knew a little about in the other books in the series but not to this extent. I feel like it is always nice to learn some of the details more thoroughly in a story and this was a great way to do it!
