Negatives. This does not come with an extra, non-press, lid. Since the product description is shared amon multiple Bodum products, this aspect is unclear, and can be misleading. The mouth piece is comfortable, however the closure device is not the best. It clips closed, but is not very tight and does not inspire confidence. It also does not clip securely into the open position. The plunger hole through the lid allows a bit of wiggle room, therefore, it is possible for liquid to come out of the top, if the cup falls over. .
A possible additional negative or a positive is the fact that the double-wall insulation is effective on the level of the Yeti Cup. I burn my mouth about once every 3 days since I'm not patient enough to wait an hour for the coffee to cool down. I suggest pouring a more temperate cup of coffee, or leaving the lid off while the grounds steep for an extended period of time. The Bodum is obviously not as big as the Yeti Cup, so depending on your preferences, this may be a positive or negative as well. I have small hands and prefer the size and feel of the Bodum.
Positives include the above, depending on your point of view. Additionally, I have found that the filter works very well. I have not gotten any grounds in my coffee thus far, as long as I only pour the coffee below the point where the inside of the cup begins to widen, at the top, to accommodate the lid. The first time I used this cup, I poured too much water and had a messy, grainy, cup of coffee. The silicone grip is comfortable and the cup doesn't feel hot to the touch thanks to the effective double wall insulation. The lid incorporates a comfortable mouth piece. Much better than that found on the Yeti Cup. But what about the Flavor?
I use an Aero Press about as much as I use this cup. I really want to like the Aero Press, and I do to a point. But I believe the Bodum does the job better. The flavor is the same between both devices, in my opinion. The difference is that the Bodum Cup offers far greater convenience. All parts are on board, in a vastly more compact profile, and the cleanup process is far easier than with the AeroPress, What's more, is the Bodum can be obtained at half the price. Even less if you consider the fact that you may need to buy a vessel to work in concert with the AeroPress.
I have purchased an additional plastic version of the Bodum Press in hopes that the lids would be compatible. I have been unsuccessful in my attempt to determine whether this is the case. When I receive my new, cheaper, plastic model, I plan to update this post. I hope this helps!
**************UPDATE****************
I received my plastic Bodum Press today and I'm extremely disappointed. The experiment was a total failure and I will be returning the item. First of all, it didn't come with the advertised extra "normal", non-french press lid. This would have been OK, since I felt the 9 dollars I spent on the plastic version would be worth it if I could swap the grip and the lid from the plastic model to the steel model. Unfortunately, while the grip on the stainless steel is easily removable, the grip on the plastic model is completely attached and cannot be removed without damaging the item. Lastly, the lids are not interchangeable. They are close in size, but you cannot swap the lids between the plastic and steel models. Bottom line, if you're looking for additional parts or options for the stainless steel model, you need to buy another stainless steel model. A good deal at $17.5.
i did not buy the plastic version for a few reasons. first, i dont want to pour boiling water into plastic. i dont care if it is 'rated' for it. second, i try not to consume items that have been sitting in plastic (like tupperware) and i try to stick with metal and glass. third, coffee especially can really contaminate plastic and make it disgusting, i have straight up thrown travel cups into the garbage for that reason in the past (note that this item does have a plastic top - more on that below). also i read that people were having the layers of plastic delaminate due to the heat. so i knew that was out.
however, this metal version has such insane insulating properties that it makes it prohibitive to drink out of. i actually burned my throat the first few times i used it. of course we have all burned our mouths on pizza, etc but i have never burned my throat. it was not pleasant. this is due to pouring near boiling water into the item (you arent just pouring coffee into it, you are brewing in it) and that it does not release heat at all, even over time. so what i have learned to do is fill it only about 1" from the fill line, wait 4 minutes, then add the rest in luke warm water (i have an under sink filter which continuously pours tepid water, neither cold nor hot). then i stir again and screw on the top, and plunge. works great.
the top does not seal entirely, nor could it. there is some serious pressure going on in there when you press water this hot, and the plunger on this press is not like a normal press where it is constructed from metal mesh. here, it is plastic and it is nearly water tight - you will lose 1 or 2 oz of coffee at the end, trapped under the press at the bottom with the grounds. i dont take very long to drink my 20oz so i wouldnt have minded a normal 'breathable' mesh plunger but i guess the thought was that the coffee would change (continue to brew) and some people obviously need 2 hours to drink a cup of coffee. still, not a big deal. but back to the seal - i carry this regularly in the side pocket on my messenger bag on my bike. i may dribble out a teaspoon of coffee but as i never bring it fully horizontal, i dont leak hardly anything at all. so you are safe there.
the plastic top does not seem to get contaminated or put terrible plastic flavors into the coffee over time. i have used it probably 30 times or more at this point and no issues. i did not buy it with the intent to use it daily but i like it so much, i do use it nearly daily now. i have also removed the plunger and used it to hold regularly coffee many times. i do recommend this item whole heartedly
On the plus side you can drink out of it in use and it holds shut well.
I have another one from a different brand that does not leak on the plunger and the seal is much better so I don't get grounds in my cofee. But it's really hard to drink out of and it's too wide for my cup holder. It also cost 2x as much.
So it's not perfect, but for the price it's very usable and not bad.

El plástico no es resistente a caídas. Llevo 3... Es un artefacto muy util si. La calidad es buena más no es la mejor considerando el precio elevado.
