About the author

USA Today Bestselling author, Stephie Walls is a lover of words—the more poetic the better. She lives on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina in her own veritable zoo with two dogs, three cats, and Magoo (in no preferential order). She would thrive on coffee, books, and Charlie Hunnam if it were possible, but since it’s not, add in some Chinese food or sushi and she’s one happy girl.

“Desperation was a crazy motivator.”
The unfairness in life can be summed in so many words: It. Sucks. Gianna/Gia LeBron (h) has dealt with her fair share of life’s disappointments and the hits just keep coming. Desperate to keep her children fed and a roof over their heads, Gia has choices to make. And not all of them are black and white. I’ve heard that when a mother gives birth she can immediately feel an invisible cord snap into place cementing a love, a bond, like no other. That in those moments, in the discovery of new life, the protective instinct is so powerful even fathers can’t comprehend its depth. This emotional connection is shown so powerfully here – tenderness and strength. Gia’s lost so much in her short life but focuses solely on her children and how she will provide a good life for them. Forged in a past of ‘should haves’ she places the guilt over their present circumstances squarely (and wrongly) on her shoulders. A history of doing ‘the right thing’ hasn’t worked in her favor so far – but that doesn’t stop her. She’s determined to provide for her family the right way – by working hard and earning it. Except that only goes so far. Sometimes the right thing just isn’t enough. Life just isn’t fair.
“Which is more important – respect or feeding your children?”
Jase Lane (H) is enchanted. On a normal everyday afternoon he witnesses the utter joy displayed by a stranger in the lobby of his family’s company and it intrigues him. Thinking he’ll never see her again he’s ecstatic when he realizes she now works for his company. His mission: find out her name and get to know the beautiful woman with sadness lurking in her eyes. It’s not long before Jase is developing feelings – the complicated kind. A study in contradictions, handsome Jase is far from a lady killer. Sex he’s done, long term relationship experience is different and equals zilch – women make him nervous and usually love his wallet far more than him – so figuring out how to develop and maintain a relationship with Gia is way out of his league. This man is so very opposite of the in-your-face alphas that are so popular right now. In the beginning of the story I wasn’t so sure about Jase, but I didn’t let that stop me. And I am so glad because I love Jase Lane so very much precisely because of what he’s not. This caring, tender, gentle alpha (yes, he is an alpha – just a different kind) fits the definition of a ‘real’ man, the man every woman wants to come home to and build dreams with and Gia has no idea Jase wants to build those dreams with her.
“He was calculated but tender, manly but gentle.”
I love books that come out of nowhere and smack me right in the face. And this one did exactly that. Page after page I thought I knew where this story was heading. I didn’t. This isn’t your average call-girl story line (and that’s all I’m giving you). I loved Gia and her moxie, but Jase stole my heart right out from under me. Two words…relationship goals. These two struggle don’t get me wrong, but the heart of their love story, their relationship – I coveted. This mature representation of communication and compromise I often find lacking in love stories - not here. This man, so very tender and loving yet dominant and unbending. There’s something so sexy about a man that knows when to give and when to stand firm and dish out the alpha. His ‘daddy mode’ melted my heart and was such a sweet look at his relationship with the kids. His yearning to take care of Gia and the kids, to give them everything they dreamed of was right out of the story books, and the catalyst that forces him to prove just what he’s willing to sacrifice drives home what a hero this man truly is – heart and soul. I admired Gia and wanted to shake her several times. It was easy to get lost in the story and want her to make different decisions, but her journey was hers – and needed to unfold in its own truth. I’m not sure I would have been as effected or believed in the story as strongly if she had acted differently. That’s my catch-22 of a great story, me emotionally invested and yelling at my kindle, loving and hating where I’m being taken, while the characters ignore me and tell their story. And in this case, it was a painful and heartbreaking yet uplifting and beautiful life story – a study of contradictions, just like the characters I spent the afternoon falling in love with. I’ll certainly be back for the next journey Ms. Wells offers.
“He couldn’t stop my heart from breaking or right the wrongs I’d made. He didn’t try to dry my eyes or pretend he could fix the place we were in. But his embrace told me silently he would just keep loving me, through it all.”

So I started reading, and I soon realised that trusted book friend was right. This book, has literally been my life for a whole day. Fallen Woman infiltrated my heart and soul so deeply, I was consumed by it. From start to finish I lived and breathed these characters. I hurt with them. I cried and smiled with them. Ultimately, I fell in love with them.
Fallen Woman, was not an easy book to read. The writing is utter perfection don't doubt that. It's the story line that is hard. This book broke me down, at times it felt like I had taken a punch to the gut and at two points I had to stop and take time to mentally process all that was happening while I cried. All sounds pretty bad when put like that but if that's what you are thinking, then you couldn't be more wrong. You'd be so wrong.
This story, while heartbreaking is so, so beautiful. With every low part there are parts that lift you back up and breath life back into those broken pieces. I found myself devastated by some of the things that happen in Fallen Woman. I found myself hurting, literally in pain, for characters, in a book. I can only praise Stephie for the emotion she throws into her words. I also offer her huge praise for how she lifts the books from the lowest lows, literally, to the highs, that were a joy to read.
I cannot fathom how Stephie felt while writing this book. Her lead character Gia, was someone I ADORED. Given the hardest and most disgusting crap ever she remains focused and strong for her babies. She's one of those characters you can't help but care for and want to help. I wanted to be her friend. But she didn't need me, she had Jase!
I actually don't know where to begin with Jase. Our hero. And by hero I mean, literally a HERO. This man was sheer perfection. Swoon worthy. Fierce. Loyal. And protective. He is everything you'd want and need. His relationship with Gia is intense, passionate and just stunning.
I've only read one book by Stephie before and I'm gutted that I've only just properly found her. She is now an author, whose books I will read no matter what. Stephie’s love for her characters is evident in her words. Stephie’s writing is captivating and full of feels. I couldn't ask for any more.
Everything about Fallen Woman was flawless. A fantastically written, emotion filled novel that breaks the heart but then fixes it in the most beautiful way.

Story. Don't miss this one!!

After graduation, Ryan got a job on Wall Street, and she followed him to New York and Madison Avenue. He had a fantastic job, and she was also doing well. Shortly after, the greatest recession of their lifetime hit, the stock market crashed, and Ryan and Gianna lost everything. She had been married a year, and pregnant with twins when she found herself in a similar poor a place from which she had come. Due to bad decisions of Ryan, when she thought nothing else could go wrong it did. The details of then led to now. The only thing that mattered was that she found herself a widow with three kids under the age of five, and didn't have two nickels to rub together, much less food in the pantry. Rock bottom!!
When you reach bottom, living in low-income housing, not getting enough food stamps for herself and three children to all eat, plus have to depend on public transportation, then even interviewing for a minimum-wage job as a mail clerk can be a start back up. And when you actually get the job, just for a moment you allow yourself to dance a little jig thinking you are all alone. Then she saw the man snickering by the door. His face filled with humor as though her happy dance had made his day. But he had the most haunting gray eyes she ever had the privilege of staring into. Running into Jase Lane would be miracle number two that day.
The third miracle that day was meeting her neighbor Pearl Johnson, and one of the most endearing book characters I've ever met. Miss Pearl was an angel that would watch her three young ones so she could work, but became part of her family. Miss Pearl had wisdom and Faith: “The Lord orchestrates every encounter. There's no movement in the world He didn't choreograph for His purpose. Our meeting here is no different. Allow Him to provide for you.”
Miss Pearl and her adorable grandson Derrick became family. Jace Lane becomes her best friend, but she dreams of having “more” with him, and so starts a slow-burn romance. His friends become her friends, and her kids are happy and have full tummies. They are all on the road to recovery, but there are bumps and curves on the trip. Really enjoyed this story!

So when she manages to get job never in million years did she expect help from Jase, they strike up an unrelenting friendship one that Gia is grateful for. So when she refuses his help financially he comes up with ways to help her make money, but Gia hates that her secret love for Jase and the money she desperately needs for her daughters care are getting in the way of letting Gia be who she needs to be.
This book is filled with plenty of emotions and you can't help feel for Gia and her situation after everything she's been through and going through, while Jase is just trying to help and comes from a good place. They make a good team and maybe more. I was gripped and intrigued from start to finish.
