Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and bestselling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and his message is for the hurting, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor. All of his trade books began as sermon series at Oak Hills Church, and his sermons all begin with Max asking himself this question: “What can I say on Sunday that will still matter on Monday?” He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest.

Max’s books have sold more than 96 million copies in 56 languages worldwide with more than 145 million total products in print branded with his name and words. Max’s books regularly appear on bestseller lists, including The New York Times. His writing has also been featured in Bible studies, Bible commentaries, songs, greeting cards, and even plush toys.

Love this book. It's one of my sons favorites

the beads were a little confusing but the purpose is well understood while reading (& of course enjoying). simple language but still VERY strait forward. "for God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall not parish BUT have ETERNAL LIFE [in HEAVEN]" (John 3:16). read the adult version (3:16 the numbers of hope) to figure out emphasis on "whosoever" (it's worth it!)

P.S.
i included the implied "Heaven" b/c the hereafter is comming even to those whose judgement will be comdemnation from the "Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world." (John 1:29)

Someone wrote a review that you shouldn’t talk about death to kids. Well I believe death is very much apart of life. Kids have parents or loved ones that die and the HOPE this book talks about makes death not scary.

I loved this book and it’s what my kids ask for every single night.

Not what I was hoping for, good reminders, but not exactly what I thought

A quote from the book, "You may get sad when someone you love dies, but ...

Talking about death to preschoolers is very traumatizing. Why traumatize a child if no one has died? You know this is for very small children, because there are stupid balls on a wire for them to play with - no doubt so they can charge more for this book.

Talking about death will not make it any less traumatizing.

The title is deceptive. Hardly any pages in this book but instead of talking about love, it talks about death??? I am returning this immediately.

I loved this book, that explains the verse John 3:16 to them. The explanations were simple, straight forward and correct. I do agree with the other reviewer who was concerned about the line regarding "someone they love die", might not be the best idea. I just change that one line when I read to them.

I read it twice to them. Once to go thru the Bible verse and its meanings and then to go thru the meanings of the colors of the beads. BTW, the beads were a great attraction to my kids (3 & 5) -- nice feature.

I have been looking for awhile now for a book to teach my 4 year old about God's love for him. Salvation isn't easy to explain to a four year old but this makes it easy :) My four year old now knows what each bead means :)

I bought two copies of this to give to my two sets of grandsons. I love the simple way Max Lucado explains the powerful verse (John 3:16) and the beautiful illustrations. A great gift idea for Christmas or birthdays.
