Catches fleas effectively and naturally and our cat loves it

Catches fleas effectively and naturally and our cat loves it
This normal-looking comb has the teeth spaced just right to catch fleas as you comb. It does a little better than just picking them up, it usually traps their legs so they can't jump off the comb easily.I bring along a zip loc bag when I comb our cat, that way when I catch a flea I toss the comb quickly into the bag to trap it. Once it comes off the comb I can pinch it in the bag with my nail. The pictures included show a few fleas I've recently caught this way. When I first got this I'd get 1 or 2 fleas every combing, now I am down to catching 1 every few times I comb her. Our cat seems like she had a few dozen fleas, so if you comb your cat once a day under typical conditions you'll probably deflea her in a few weeks this way. Though in one occasion I picked out 11 fleas. The best thing is, our cat loves the comb. She rubs up against it happily, and purrs loud enough for the neighbors to hear, so it's fun to comb her. This is a really clean and natural way to keep fleas at bay. It only takes a few minutes a day, and you were probably going to pet your cat for more than that each day anyway. Just leave the comb and sandwich bag in easy reach.Tips: - The back of the neck and just behind the ears are favorite locations for fleas. Our cat also gets rather calm when you comb the back of her neck, so win-win. - Under the chin and the side of her face are the other favorites. - Our cat also likes to scratch her face on the comb, it works well if you run the comb over her whiskers on the side of the face, don't try to go under the whiskers, just comb right over the whiskers and it's comfy for the cat. - It probably goes without saying that you want to point the teeth of the comb in the direction you're combing to lift the fleas up and out. - Let some fur build up on the comb, when you catch a flea on the comb they will usually b-line it to the fur on the comb making it easy to transport them to the plastic bag.Update: I've now owned this comb for 1.5 years. A few weeks after writing this review I completely eliminated all fleas on my cat, we used the comb only sporadically for nearly a year, never finding a flea. Recently she's caught some new fleas just from being outside so I've begun combing her daily again, each time I catch 2-3 fleas. I think it's safe to say that you can expect to fully de-flea your cat with daily combings after a few weeks plus or minus a little. Initially, you'll catch the larger adult fleas. After a week or so you'll start catching smaller newly-hatched fleas. It feels like you need to work through about 3 generations over a few weeks to fully eliminate the fleas and eggs.
