There is NO added sugar, NO carrageenan, NO guar gum, NO sulfites (retains the white color). The ONLY ingredients are coconut and purified water. So, if it looks a little gray, don’t worry, the color you see is the color that nature intended. You are simply getting the best coconut possible, without having to crack one open.

Our Coconut does need a little special care: Coconut milkfat has a tendency to solidify (and separate) at cool temperatures so, depending on your recipe, you may need to SHAKE WELL before use.

I use coconut milk in my coffee daily, and I've tried all the major brands. Not only is the price getting exorbitant, some have undesirable additives, some are waxy, and others are so thin, they are a waste of money. I was delighted to find that this brand is creamy at room temperature, but when cold, is thick, smooth & creamy without being waxy. It doesn't take much to lighten my coffee, and when cold, is wonderful over berries, fresh or frozen. Yum!

I was buying store bought coconut milk to make my protein shakes until I read and watched an email from Food Babe (Vani Hari). I didn't realize all the crap that was in the coconut milk. She showed how easy it was to make your own coconut milk with Natural Value Organic Coconut Milk which is BPA free, no added guar gum, unsweetened and the only ingredients are coconut and water. It takes 5 minutes to make. I love it. The only bad thing is the price. The first time I bought it Jan 24, 2019 it was $36.05 for the 12 pack sold by Amazon.com Services Inc which was wonderful. The second time I bought it was March 31, 2019 for $49.89 sold by LetsGoGreen. I hope the price goes down for the next purchase. This is the only place to buy a 12 can supply at one time.

Natural Value: Tree Nut Allergy Warning

I would have given this product five stars but it contained a Tree Nut warning not in the description. I have been using this product in smoothies and cooking recipes and wondering why my blood pressure was so high all month long. Only this morning did I see the tiny print on the can that said Allergy: Tree Nuts. I am not allergic but I am do have a sensitivity to tree nuts. The reaction is not immediate but hours after using the product. I am not sure if the allergy was not noted because Amazon might not allow the allergy info in the description/pic or what but I am very unhappy with how this product caused me hypertension issues for so long. Normally this brand is known for keeping their product clean and clear of any allergy warnings. Natural Value is usually known for being organic and safe but I will not trust the brand anymore.

We bought this brand at our little health food store in Idyllwild, CA never having heard of it before. By the name I was wary, thinking it might be a high-priced but cheap product. Wrong! It was absolutely delicious, very creamy and fresh tasting. Completely recommended and now I am ordering it on Subscribe and Save. One caveat: I made coconut milk tapioca pudding in both chocolate and vanilla. While both were wonderfully delicious, but I thought I would point out that a slight graininess was obvious in the vanilla version. This was not really a factor in the chocolate. Perhaps I just don't notice with chocolate because a certain graininess often shows up in chocolate puddings anyway - because of the chocolate itself. And I would say that the extremely fine graininess is also a sign that the product is pure coconut.

March, 2013: they now have a BPA-free can and no guar gum. Just organic coconut and water. And yet it is so thick I spoon it into coffee (which I love) and it makes such a creamy addition to soups.

I'm getting ready to purchase my third case of this product. It is one of the very few coconut milk products without guar gum, an emulsifier that is invading just about every food product on the market. One thing I noticed right away with this, unlike some of the other brands I've used before, is that it lasts longer in the fridge. Other brands tended to go bad in 2 or 3 days - this brand is good for nearly a week, though I usually use it up before that (maybe it's the guar gum that goes bad early and not the coconut milk). It is off color. I don't care about that - I use it in fruit smoothies and occasionally in soups/chowders. It's pure and the flavor is good, and that's what counts. As others have said, it needs to be shaken or blended well before using. I have a couple Tupperware shaker containers that work great for blending--then I just store in the frig in the same container so I can shake up again before each use.

The last case I purchased had some bent cans in it, but for the most part I've been very happy with this product. I'm giving it a "4" instead of a "5" star rating because of the packaging. I don't like cans. I'd like to see it packaged in paper boxes or glass bottles. But I'll take what I can get. There's no guar gum in it.

The contents are very thick about 2/3's of the can and the bottom 1/3 is mostly liquid, so you do need to dump and scrape the entire can and stir it a few times. My comparison for flavor and quality is to Thai Kitchen which is the brand I used to buy mainly because of its availability. The difference is night and day. It appears AMAZON as a seller is no longer carrying this product, so I will try the organic version of Roland's brand next as it has many positive reviews as well. I paid around a dollar sixty per can which was quite a deal for this organic quality. Roland brand is currently about two dollars per can. Honestly this brand is so creamy and tasty that I use it in many things to replace milk and especially when baking Dr. Oetker's muffins. My cats enjoy it as a special treat. It is one of the few food items that has so many health benefits and tastes wonderful.

Best quality stuff I've seen.

Coconut milk varies wildly in quality -- literally every brand is different, in my experience. Most of the cheaper brands are thin, somewhat naturally homogenized, and have a chemical additive "to preserve freshness." Some of the more expensive brands in my local store are much thicker but have a slightly "off" smell and taste, and most still have potassium metabisulfate. I ordered the Natural Value Organic from Amazon because I didn't want the additive. This is the freshest, best stuff I've seen, and cheaper than the so-so high-priced brands. It is cleanly separated in the can, with the solids (you can scoop it like ice cream) on top and the water below. I scrape the contents into a blender, add a little filtered water, and blend for five seconds to homogenize. Great. Basically, you can get butter, cream, or milk out of this can to use instead of dairy products if you're looking to avoid caseins, drugs, natural and synthetic hormones.
