I could not have asked for a better vacuum at this price point
After my 7 year old Electrolux canister vacuum died, I was sad. I loved that vacuum and the cleaning ability was amazing. However, I was having a hard time justifying buying a $700 vacuum as our 7 year old dryer was just replaced the week prior... talk about bad luck for the wallet!I did a ton of research. I knew I wanted a canister vacuum because of the amount of hardwood floors in our home. For awhile, I was dead set on a Dyson, Miele, or Electrolux. But I kept having people tell me to look into a more affordable option- The Shark brand.I happened to come across this one on Amazon, and decided to give it a shot based off of reviews. It had everything I wanted, with exception to being bagless-I HATE emptying bagless chambers-- and the lift away feature is a huge bonus since we have 2 flights of carpeted stairs. It arrived quickly, packaged well, and ready to use in just a few minutes. Suction on hardwood floor is comparable to my Electrolux. I found it excellent. Carpet cleaning with the motorized carpet attachment I found excellent as well. With kitty litter that gets tracked into the carpet, I do have to make a few sweeps over the same area, and I didn't have to with my electrolux; its a small sacrifice for the price. The chamber for dirt is on the small side, but I found that it picked up way more than I was expecting out of my carpets. So maybe the cleaning power of the Electrolux wasn't as good as I thought? In a perfect world, I would like this to have a bagged option due to allergies and easier disposal. I am getting used to the bagless feature and it isn't quite as messy as I was afraid of and the other plus side is less waste in the landfills!I prefer the storage features of this vacuum and I also like that there is a hook on the bottom of the stick so that you can keep the stick upright when storing. My Electrolux was always thrown in the closet haphazardly. I also really like that the 2 attachments are stored between the canister and the lift away feature. My Electrolux attachments were on the stick and were always getting knocked off and lost. This vacuum roles smoothly behind the hose and doesn't feel heavy or bulky. I also don't slam it into trim and corners as much or as often as I did previously, so I think that the turn radius is superior to my old vacuum. The LED lights on the motorized head are nice and bright and the stick and hardwood floor/motorized head attachments can go completely flush against the floor to make vacuuming under things a breeze. I don't find the noise to be better or worse than any other vacuum I've used. The cord length is sufficient for my open floor plan and so far the retractable feature works well. Overall, the vacuum seems very low maintenance and has some very nice features.I haven't used an upright in 7 years, so I cannot compare it to those kinds but as far as a canister vacuum goes, I could not have asked for a better vacuum at this price point and I've been highly recommending to all my friends--even the "name-brand conscious" friends. After a few months of use I am really pleased and hoping that it lasts a long, long time.I've included some pictures below for size and feature referenceUPDATE: 10/18/18–So, the slot that keeps the stick upright for storage purposes has cracked .... Not a deal breaker, but I’m so disappointed as I really liked that feature. The stick no longer stands upright and if I try to make it work, I’m afraid I’ll damage that filter compartment (I will attach pictures)I also feel as though the suction is a little less than in the beginning and I do maintain my filters. Also, I think the synthetic bristles are a little too stiff (compared to my electrolux) for my higher pile carpet, and has made the carpet look a little more worn; the carpet fibers look brushed out at the top. I am a frequent vacuumer due to pets, so it may just be wear and tear. But for a while there was quite a lot of carpet fibers in my canister.I am more hesitant to recommend this, but at the price point it’s still not awful.

I'm stunned at how good this vacuum is-- and I feel silly for waiting so long to buy it. I have two uprights ((upstairs and down) and one canister (downstairs), and I wanted a second canister for upstairs, where there are down comforters; big beds to vacuum under; bathrooms with tile floors, hair and so on; and hardwood floors with area carpets and throw rugs, plus plenty of above-the-floor work, and of course those infernal carpeted stairs. I have now put the Shark through its paces and I'm ready to discard my other three---or at least buy another one for downstairs.

Pros: It is light enough to tote on the stairs (I'm 68) and the smaller roller attachment makes quick work of the carpet on the stairs. The head without the roller bar is brilliant on hardwood--- the floors under the beds are the cleanest they have been since we moved in. The non-roller head also has a setting for carpets, and it is fine for throw rugs, especially with the suction control opened a bit so the whole rug does not get sucked in. The roller head is better than my uprights for carpet ( I used it after using the upright it left me embarrassed at how much dirt was still in the carpet). At first I thought it would be annoying to have to lift off the body to get at the dusting and crevice tools, but it is no big deal at all, and actually preferable to my other canister's arrangement of tools carried on top of the body, where they sometimes fall off. The motor, although more powerful than my other vacuums, is definitely quieter. Storing a canister take up more room than storing an upright, but this fits into the closet adequately (see photo), needing 3 feet of width because of the hose and roller head, but only 11 inches of depth. Alternatively, set the floor nozzle upright (it locks) and set it in front of the body (photo). This requires 30 inches of width and about 14 inches of depth in the closet. My other canister can be set vertically, so it uses less closet space, but it doesn't perform on anywhere near the same level. So I consider it a fair trade-off. Emptying the dustbin, and rinsing the filters (every 3 months), is easy.

Cons: Ideally I would have a dusting tool that is horsehair and swivels freely. The one included here is a bit too stiff, and while it can be set at various angles to make tasks like dusting baseboards easier, it does not swivel easily. I'll look for the ideal tool in the aftermarket. But this isn't enough of a flaw to lose a star. Also, the roller head, when engaged, pulls the head along a low carpet too fast to do a good job, so I had to exert a bit of a pull on it to slow it down enough to really clean the carpet. But this became second nature quickly.
And the carpet got sooo clean!!

I have owned this sweeper for several months now. I absolutely love it, it is the right tool for the job.

We put hardwood floors in our entire house (not the bathrooms, they got ceramic tile) 4 years ago and I had been frustrated with cleaning them. I used the reliable method of a good old broom and dust pan, but wanted a sweeper that could fit under furniture and cabinet ledges, etc. I would use our Dyson original, but it is big and bulky and couldn't get to my hard to reach places. So I would pull out the broom anyways. It was tedious and time consuming, and I dreaded it every time. And, having 2 indoor dogs, (short haired pit bulls, but they still shed, none the less) I needed to sweep at least twice a week.

I started looking at other models, and new I needed a smaller sweeper head for hard to reach places, but didn't want to suffer in quality of suction. I decided to take a chance on this particular Canister, and I have not regretted it one bit!! Don't get me wrong, Dyson is a great product, and we loved it when we still had carpets. But this sweeper has been fantastic for the hard floors we now have throughout our home. I can easily sweep under chairs, under the beds, and get into nooks and crannies with ease. The suction is amazing. It is a breeze to empty the canister and clean the filter. My wood floors have never looked so good. I actually kind of enjoy sweeping the floors now. I even use it in the bathrooms on the ceramic tile.

The head changes easily when I switch from the hardwood to the large area rugs we have in the main living area/great room. I don't find the need to change the heads when sweeping the smaller rugs (in front of the doors or the sinks). I simply change the setting from hardwood to carpet with an easy flip of the finger in the handle and carry on with the same head. I also love the automatic cord button, just step on the button, and zip! The cord winds up inside the vacuum! No more tedious winding the cord up by hand!

My only complaint is the smallness of the canister, I have to empty after each use, but this I not enough to drop a star as it is very easy to do.

I highly recommend this product for anyone who has hardwood, tiles, or any other solid, hard floors in their home. As stated earlier, it is the right tool for the job! I love my Shark canister vacuum!

I’ve been using this for. Couple of weeks. My cleaning lady loves it and so do I. The handle is long for reaching under beds, power bar is really strong. Easy switch to other tools. Long cord so you don’t have to switch outlets and NO BAGS
