Owen Loughman has lost two members of his family, his father is missing, he has been taken out of his Navy SEAL assignment and gathered with his brothers to figure out is holding his father and where the secret weapon everyone wants is hidden. What Owen never expected was to be reunited with the love of his life, Natalie Dixon. Owen walked away from her years ago for their own good and to pursue his military expertise, so finding out his father had employed Natalie in some capacity is as shocking as everything else that is going on.

What Natalie wants is to be professional with Owen and pretend like she does not still harbor the feelings of yesteryear even though she absolutely does. The distraction of him so close is making it hard to focus on what her job here right now is to do, find the weapon and neutralize it while figuring out who has kidnapped Owen’s father. She is a professional and nothing will deter her from the mission but one more kiss from Owen and her mind may just turn to mush. They were once the hottest couple in town and now it seems all these years later that fact still remains true.

As she does her part and Owen handles the bad guys with his brother the actions they take move things in the direction of secure and contain. Natalie knows her stuff as well as Owen knows his so when the heat comes raining down on them they are ready, willing, and able to fight side by side working on the good stuff later.

Donna Grant has started a spectacular series off in Book 1 with action, suspense, drama, and some too hot to contain romance.

Didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. I especially like the cliffhanger aspect that will evidently link books together. Family of good guys from Texas and strong women who join the fight...good stuff.

Fourteen years have passed since Owen broke Natalie's heart when he abruptly ended their year-long relationship. Natalie's dreams for her future included Owen and she believed he felt the same about her. She spent that summer mourning the love she lost, then proceeded to move forward with her life. Now she works for the Russian Embassy and loves it, however, when Orrin, Owen's Dad, unexpectedly contacts her and asks questions regarding her job, she's unsure what to think, until two weeks later when she sees the very thing they discussed on her boss's desk.

Owen always knew he'd follow the family tradition and join the military, as did his brothers, Wyatt and Cullen, though they became Marines. As a Navy SEAL, Owen is used to following orders on a moment's notice, yet he can't help but be surprised when he's pulled from a mission and dropped off at his uncle and aunt's house. Upon seeing his brothers arrive the same way, he instinctively knows somethings wrong, and is proven correct upon seeing the evidence of violence in his family's home.

Natalie and Callie, a friend of the Loughmans and current employee of Orrin's private special ops company, see the helicopters and know they carry Orrin's sons. Though Natalie can't help but react at the thought of seeing Owen again, she also knows how painful it will be and that it's better for her to maintain as much distance from his as possible. The important thing is that Owen, Wyatt, and Cullen find their father and uncover who killed his men on their last mission, all while working toward obtaining the bioweapon the Russians are after.

It's immediately obvious that not only is the attraction and connection between Owen and Natalie still there, but it's grown even stronger regardless of the years they've been apart. When Callie realizes Natalie left something before heading to her Mom's house, Owen's upset that she left the safety of the ranch, and he and his brothers go get her, arriving just in time to protect her. Shortly after returning to the ranch, Natalie reads the paper Callie found in Natalie's work documents and discovers it's about her, specifically information for a hit on her. Owen is determined to keep her safe and upon learning how much danger she's truly in, admits that the ranch is where she belongs, with him, as she always has. He left her all those years ago  believing it was for the best due to how military life may have impacted their relationship, though it was the hardest thing he's ever done, but he knows he'll never be able to leave her again.

Will they find Orrin before it's too late? Can they keep the package safe and away from the Russians? What will the bioweapon do? What plans do the Russians have for it? Who betrayed Orrin and his team? How far up does this conspiracy go? Will Owen and Natalie get a second chance? Can Owen prove to Natalie he'll never leave her again? Can Natalie open her heart to the risk again, especially to the man who has always held it? Will a tragedy be the catalyst to bring them back together, as they were always meant to be?

One-click now and follow along as Owen and Natalie get a second chance, while they, along with Wyatt, Cullen, and Callie work together to uncover what happened to Orrin and discover who is behind everything. Please keep in mind this is the first book in the series and the storyline will continue throughout the three books, though each one will focus solely on one couple.

The first book in Donna Grant's Sons of Texas was refreshingly different from her Dark World universe. I enjoyed every second of this spy thriller adventure with the first of the three Loughman boys coming home to find his uncle and aunt murdered, father kidnapped, and his childhood sweetheart, that he left after graduation in order to protect her from his kind of life, neck deep in trouble with the Russians. Natalie has tried so hard to forget Owen the past 14 years since he turned his back on her and their future without explaining why, so when he shows back up to find murder and mayhem, she tries very hard to keep her distance while trying to find his father. Both have a lot to work through and while trying to do that they are dodging bullets, Russian hitmen, ties to the Russian Embassy and government, and dealing with the fact that the boys totally misjudged their father. I enjoyed their story and I look forward to the other two boys having their own adventures while trying find and save their father and keep a bio weapon out of Russian hands.

Donna Grant has a way of writing that's always gets to me. This book is no different. It's a love story and also one of second chances. It gives us insight into a military family and how they each deal with the heartache of loss . Each of the three brothers are strong, stubborn, beautiful men who lose their way from each other until the moment a loved one is in danger. At that point, the only thing that matters is working together, which bridges the gap that had separated them for so long. Love is such an important part of the story,. Love of family, love of country and the love of an amazing woman. It all comes together as they have to fight together against many enemies to save two of their own. It's explosive and frightening, at times, but once they vow to get something done, nothing can stop The Hero and his siblings from completing their mission, no matter how dangerous. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and can't wait to begin the next. Readers will not be disappointed with this one.
