*They make great row/stitch markers when knitting, since they are easily repositioned.
*I use them when sewing to mark seamlines, darts, notches, etc on knits and other fabrics that can't be easily marked with a pen/pencil/chalk, i.e., anywhere you would use a tailor tack (which I am way too lazy to do).
*I use them for securing underlining to the outer fabric, instead of basting the layers together. They are great for pin-basting and securing adjustments when fitting a garment on someone since they won't poke like a straight pin.
*I place one of these pins to mark the right side of each pattern piece when the fabric right and wrong side looks the same.
Other reviewers have noted that the pins aren't very "sturdy", and I know what they are talking about. Compared to traditional safety pins, these DO bend more easily. BUT, when fastening and unfastening a bunch of them, that is actually a plus, particularly if one has, ahem, more mature hands. I've purchased two big packages of these pins, and I keep a dish of them on my cutting table at all time.
