Super excited to get this wok in! I followed the instructions for seasoning and initial cleaning. I will admit, I was pretty confused when I found I had to clean off the protective layer, as I had taken "uncoated" to mean that the wok would have no coats at all (even a protective one). I suppose they could have meant that there was no seasoning layer applied during manufacturing - fair enough.
Unfortunately, the handles don't come off, so you'll have to season it over the stove (or a burner, if you're lucky!). I seasoned mine over an electric stove - yes, it's possible! The seasoning will definitely be uneven and ugly for a while, but that's to be expected. Protip: Just use it. Make sure you're not cranking your stove up past medium-high heat for the first couple of times you use it (plus most dishes won't require you to go up that high anyway!), and start with things like stir-fried veggies, before working your way up to meats, and eventually starches. Time and multiple uses will be your best bet for getting great results with this wok.
UPDATE: Three-ish days and several uses later, and I can say I'm pretty happy with how this wok is performing! There's minimal sticking now, which is an awesome sign for the seasoning!
