Who all those who blast this as: "This is a horrible microphone, my built in one is better" and the like, I'm sorry, but you have no idea what this microphone is for. You think this microphone is supposed to sound good, thinking that it has build built with "calibration". This is not a high-quality microphone (measurement-grade microphones don't come under $20, if even $200). This microphone has nothing fancy inside it. This is, however, a microphone what has been measured at a shiz-ton to frequencies to characterize the microphone's frequency response so you can have a reference point as to what you are measuring. Even if your reference is crappy, if you know what it is, you can make use out of it. What's the difference in amplitude between 4kHz and 30Hz on your iPhone/android's microphone??? You don't know. Even if one was measured for calibration offsets, do you really think every single unit will have the exact same response down to a dB? It MIGHT give you a ballpark... maybe.... if it's a full moon... wearing green??.
Sorry for turning this into a rant. I just hate seeing an awesomely useful tool for <$20 that does what a RANE calibration system does for $500+ get blasted as being a crappy product. A wrench does a pretty lousy job of spreading peanut butter on toast-- if you use a tool wrong, you will likely get bad results.
My Tools & stuff:
This cool little cheap gizmo
Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.3 (Kernel 3.4.0-2015522)

Like a lot of geeks, I carry an Android phone with me (Galaxy S4) and no one teases me for it. This microphone fits in my pocket and I can carry it everywhere. I use it with an app called RecForge II that lets me tune my gain as well as disable Androids dynamic gain.
I did some recording with the iMM-6 of some sounds: egret squawks along the slew, Starbuck's coffee shop, street noise, my dog vocalizing and a small water pump. I compared them with similar sounds that I captured years ago with the Zoom. It compared well. The noise floor was not as low with the Android. I was pretty happy with the range of frequencies I captured. For example, the steam from the expresso machine sound real and the egret croak was great. The thump of tires over a bridge was pretty cool. Since the microphone is paired with a calibration file on the Dayton Audio website, it made setting a default eq quite easy.
I don't consider any of these things to be a fail. Instead I'm really happy that this low cost microphone did so well in this application. This isn't a pro audio recorder, but it works extremely well as a stand-in for one.
Unfortunately, my spouse still teases me. However, when I've used the mic in public places no one notices. Because my cans are plugged into it, they probably think I'm just listening to tunes.

Bear in mind that you need to upload a calibration file to your phone to get a pure flat response from this mic. This is done with an app recommended by the Dayton website, and it's a paid app. In the UK, be prepared to spend £8 more on said recommended app. Still worth it.
