Pre-ordered this on black Friday, I've had it on repeat since it released and love it! A perfect balance of upbeat and slow songs. The only word I can think to describe the music of Green River Ordinance is "real". I've thoroughly enjoyed their stuff since I heard "Heart of Me". Some of my favorites on this album; Maybe It's Time, Tallahassee, and Life in the Wind. I think my favorite by far though is Always Love Her, an upbeat, tap your foot, singalong in the car kind of song with an exciting change of pace in the bridge that had me clapping along the first time I heard it. Great album, you won't be disappointed. I am curious how many times they'll release Endlessly, it's a great song but I've heard it before. Different feel for this one though, but same song.

Dopo l'ottimo "vademecum" della loro musica, l'omonimo "Green River Ordinance", (qui), i texani, di nome ma non (musicalmente) di fatto, arrivano a questo nuovo disco, certamente il più ambizioso. Gli Ordinance hanno limato i bordi più roots della loro musica, hanno, qui e là, patinato il loro suono, ma grazie alla prorompente energia che riescono a sviluppare e alla bella voce e al carisma di Josh Jenkins, riescono nell'intento di coniugare buona musica, a volte ottima, con un ammiccamento più che evidente alle radio di settore e, chissà, alle classifiche. Per il tipo di canzoni contenute in questo disco li inserirei fra la Zac Brown Band e i Sons Of Bill, due gruppi che però hanno perso moltissimo con gli ultimi lavori. I ragazzi di Fort Worth, invece, riescono ancora a tenere il timone della loro musica, cedono, appunto, qualcosa, ma si fanno ascoltare con molto piacere. Ci sono ancora gli echi di The Band, anche se piuttosto lontani, e la musica sgorga fresca e tonica, perfetta per la stagione che deve arrivare. Non c'è niente di complicato, qui dentro, solo tipica musica americana che parla di amori, bevute e "simple life", per dirla con il titolo di uno dei brani del disco. A volte è troppo poco, soprattutto se cantato con sciatteria o rozzezza, ma se ci si mette il giusto equilibrio, come fanno i Green River Ordinance, è tutto quello che serve per una serata non troppo impegnativa. Peccato non abbiano uno scrittore di canzoni di qualità superiore, altrimenti sarebbero già stelle di prima grandezza. Potrebbero diventarlo in futuro, anche piuttosto prossimo, sempre che non svendano troppo la loro musica, come le band sopra citate. Per ora me li godo: musica diretta e senza troppa malinconia.
