I love fly fishing and I go fishing in remote locations (ie: USA, Taiwan, Indonesia, Kiritimati Island, Singapore...). I love that when I get out of the airplane, push a few buttons, the time and date are set for me by the GPS.

I also love the function of counting the fish that I catch.

I have upgraded and synced my watch...no problems. I was hessitant to do this after reading another persons review but I didn't have any problems with it.

Menus took a bit to get used too...I would try to exit out of an application a few times and seemed to get stuck in there...so I would have to back-back-back...look for an exit without saving...

Not many applications yet for the watch (all apps seem like they are FENTIX 3 apps...
Over-all, I think the watch was PERFECT for my fly fishing needs

I hope in the future they can make the watch solar powered...Carrying the charging cable and cradle is not difficult but just one more thing that I need to remember to throw in the suitcase.

Please do not buy this watch if you plan to use if for Sailboat Racing

I have been using the Quatix 3 for the past three months, primarily for sailboat racing. If I can help anyone save $600 and convince them not to buy this watch I will be very happy. I am so sad that I wasted $600 dollars on this watch. I race sailboats at least twice a week and I am using the watch for all my sailing. I own a sailboat and I also crew on a other friend's boats. I also own the original Quatix so I can compare both watches against each other. Basically the COG (Course over groud) shown by the Quatix 3 is wrong. It is consistently low by more than 10 degree. Not only is the compass heading wrong but it screws up the Header and Lift information. I have compared the Quatix 3 against another Garmin GPS, the original Quatix and a digital compass. All the devices agree with each other except the Quatix 3 which shows a much lower value for COG. I also know the difference between True North and Magnetic north so it is not caused by that. In fact the regular compass on the Quatix is very accurate. The bottom line is the watch is useless to me.

I also like to export my race data in GPX format so I can replay the race on my computer. I have software that analyzes the race data. Unfortunately when you export GPS data from Garmin Connect the format of the data is wrong. The position data is OK but the time data is formatted incorrectly. I was able to determine how to fix the time formatting and I can edit the GPX file and fix it. But why is it wrong in the first place?

All in all the watch seems to be great for many things. Just not sailboat racing

This is my third Quatix. I own the prior model which stopped working during a race. Garmin sent a replacement that also stopped working. I then upgraded to the Quatix 3. In short, 1) the menu is extremely complex and can't easily be used for sailing and 2) this weekend at a regatta, all the sailing functionality and menus disappeared!! I'm going to buy a stopwatch with "start", "stop" and "reset"...which at least will be reliable while sailing. So far Garmin support has been unable to help add the sailing functionality back to my sailing watch (it still has Golf, SUP, etc.)

GPS to slow for Pro sports.

The GPS is too slow to use the distance to line feature. and this would have been one of the main features for me.
The same happens when I try to use the speedo. I race catamarans for a living and the acceleration of the boats is to fast to get a proper readout
