FIRST IMPRESSION
This humidor is every bit as lovely as the pictures. I believe everything is just as described, with one welcomed change. Like another customer mentioned in their review, I also received this humidor with a digital hygrometer...wonderful! If you want to know what this hygrometer looks like, I found several identical hygros on a large auction website, listed as "Cigar Humidor Digital Hygrometer with Gold Metal Frame" (approximately $20).
SEASONING
I added sticks after about a week of seasoning, following many good videos online. Basically, if your humidor is a little dry, use a clean cloth lightly saturated with distilled water to wipe down all interior surfaces, especially where the lid seats into the base (seal). Some videos said to wipe down with propylene glycol (aka PG). I followed the advice of most and applied distilled water only.
HUMIDITY CONTROL
I live in a dry region of the US where morning relative humidity annual average is 50% and afternoons around 25%. Over about a month, I've evolved from distilled water sponge to propylene glycol gel cups to a half-pound of silica beads in a stocking and put beads in the included lid box (remove the florists' sponge material). Since I've changed moisture media often, and probably too quickly, I shouldn't promote one method over another. Let's just say the silica beads are currently working fine. I'm not implying any other method is inferior, though.
I believe my humidor is well sealed, but relative humidity increases a few points when I lock the lid. Unlocked, my hygro indicates around 66-68% RH. Locked, I'm showing 70-71. I haven't calibrated, since the installed hygro isn't easily removable, but locking the box definitely seems to tighten the seal. If I get really bored, I may carefully apply a thin bead of aquarium silicone around the interior edges of all glass panels, but I feel my moisture is currently within an acceptable range.
SUMMARY
If you're looking for a very attractive, wooden humidor of this size, I think the quality and price (i.e. value) of this humidor is difficult, maybe impossible, to beat. Hope this helps!

The hinges prevent the lid from sealing
I purchased this Humidor July 13, 2014, I've had it well over a year. I never could seem to get this humidor to hold it's humidity long. I was always refilling my gel packs, or putting in water packs. I keep this Humi in my basement which stays a typical 65 Degrees F, I never could get this box to maintain a consistent humidity. I went as far as buying the Xikar Digital hydrometer to keep measurements. It's typical to see 62% one day and 70% the next day. To even reach adequate humidity levels I have to keep 3-4 gel packs, or a hand full of the Boveda 72% water packs, and both of these would need refreshed constantly!Even with all these methods, my cigars ALWAYS dried out. I keep about 100-120 cigars in this box, the top layer always seemed to harden up, I had to shuffle the stash around constantly to keep from having crispy stogies.I finally gave up on this box, ALL my stogies, at least $400 worth have become stiff as a rock. I brought the box up and set it on the kitchen counter and finally noticed that the hinges of this box keep the rear of the lid lifted up, preventing a proper seal!!! MY GOD after all this time, the box isn't even constructed properly!! It looks great, but it's ruined all my stogies :(Now that I see what the cause of the problem is, I can remove the springs and fix the insets with a chisel, maybe. Overall, I'd refrain from this box unless you get a good sale on it and are willing to fix the skeezy craftsmanship.
