I wanted two cleavers for chopping veggies. One big and heavy (No.4 Cleaver sold by the WokShop), one smaller and lighter (the Rada). I used one as a fence (No.4) and the other to chop/scoop (Rada). Food processors are too much trouble and give unreliable results. I prefer to do all my prep work by hand.
I am very impressed with this cleaver. Super sharp, well built, chops well. Of the several all metal cleavers I own, the Rada is the lightest and smallest. I use it all the time to perform multiple tasks and consider this my main knife. If I could make one change to the cleaver that would be to change the front edge to more of a point. It is rounded and I just prefer a point that sticks out. When I am cooking in my stainless skillets, I often use the Rada as my spatula/scraper. It cuts, notches and lifts pastry super well, just make sure it is air dried, room temp and floured. Prepping parsley goes much faster/easier. Chopping potatoes and carrots take minimal effort and this thing makes chopping/slicing onions almost fun. I can make tabouli in half the time now.
Until six months ago, I had my knives professionally sharpened but now I use the Presto 08800 sold here on Amazon. It keeps my Rada very sharp. Clean this knife promptly, allow to dry and oil occasionally.
I use the Rada so much, I am ordering an additional cleaver and I am looking to purchase some other items from their line. This is a great chopper/scraper/spatula/pastry utensil for a very low price.
