These two short episodes portraying the elves that prep homes prior to Santa landing at them are two of the best animated holiday shows out there, period. They're a riot, full of cleverly hidden adult humor while being fun for kids to watch too. I would put both of them up there with any of the classic animated Christmas shows; Charlie Brown, the Grinch, any of them. Prep and Landing holds its own with them and in some cases is even better. I have no idea why Disney didn't make more of them and why they haven't become required family viewing at this time of year.
If you've never seen them I highly recommend giving them a try, I guarantee you'll fall in love with them and make them part of your holiday tradition like we have.

While it's still Christmas time and I'm in the mood to write a review, I'll chime in on Prep & Landing. I'll get right to the point, if you haven't seen this but you're a fan of the old school Christmas specials from the 70s and 80s, lemme tell ya... these are the ONLY new Christmas specials that I'd compare to the Rankin & Bass classics. If you don't know who that is, just stop reading this right now before I punch you in the face.

The character designs, animation, music and voice work is right on the mark. The story is face paced, heartfelt and most of all actually FUNNY! And yes, you will want to watch this every year along with Frosty, Rudolf and the rest. I'm not a Pixar/Disney fanboy... Some of their stuff make work for kids but everything doesn't necessarily resonate with adults. Everyone that likes animated Christmas tales... man, woman or child, will find something to love about the Prep & Landing specials.

When Prep and Landing first aired on Television, we absolutely loved it! It was probably one of the best new animated Christmas specials that we had seen. A year later, Totally Tinsel came out and we did not hold out high hopes since most sequels are a little flat.

This sequel, while not as surprising as the original since we had already been introduced to the main character, was indeed as good as the first one! We enjoyed the heck out of it and started looking to buy both. When we found this twin pack, we bought it as it was exactly what we were looking for.

The DVD is every bit as good and the quality is stellar. Now, we can watch it each Christmas and not have to worry if we will be home when it airs or even if it will be aired.

I would highly recommend this collection if you love animated Christmas Specials.

We watched this when it first came out on TV a bunch of years ago and the kids loved it. It's a great twist on the traditional Santa visits your house story. Think Mission Impossible & Apollo 13 smashed into Santa & the North Pole and you got one very funny combination.
The voices and characters add extra spice to the mix. The humour is dry and gives adults something to laugh at as well. The bonus features are worth watching, not that I buy videos for bonus features.
This is the kind of movie you look forward to watching every holiday season and your kids won't out grow it.
