I made spiced 'pulled pork' sandwiches and piled it high with a slightly sweet cole slaw. Neither my husband or I are vegetarians/ vegans, but I enjoy having dishes that don't necessarily require flesh, and my husband is open to what I make. He wasn't sure what I used, but could tell it wasn't exactly pork.. but he liked it. Sometimes I just want to try something new, and this had been on my list to try for some time now. This was a pleasant substitute but it certainly isn't a perfect swap (didn't expect it to be). Texture is great for what I made though, so that is important! It could even be used to stretch or mix in with meat for a lightened up version of a dish.
I rinsed the fruit well. I tried a piece by itself. Fairly bland as expected, with a hint of watered down artichoke taste. Olive texture? I used two cans, and with a drained weight of 10 oz per can, the amount certainly looked like 1.5-2 lbs of pulled pork. So pretty even. After slow cooking it in several spices and BBQ sauce, the flavoring was delicious. It could have been put together quickly too, with likely same flavor outcome. Paired well with the cole slaw I made. I think my next foray with it will be to make a pulled chicken dish using Mexican flavors. Since I rarely get out to the stores, I figured I would just buy the jackfruit off Amazon, so I can't comment on price. {{Currently 6 for $17. $2.83 per can. I used two cans to make a large skillet of 'pulled pork' for $5.66. We used regular sized hamburger rolls, and with a combination of 'pork' and cole slaw, there were 8 sandwiches made.}}
Item shipped quickly, no damaged or dented cans, product is as described, and it worked for what I wanted to use it for. I don't see any reason not to give the product and experience a full 5 stars at this time.

Nutrition wise, Aryo-D's seems to have less nutrients. An 89 gram serving of Native Forest Jackfruit had 3 grams of Dietary Fiber and 2 grams of Protein. But an 85 gram serving of Aroy-D's Jackfruit only has 1 gram of Dietary Fiber and 1 gram of Protein. This is kinda important. A 14 oz can of Native Forest Jackfruit would have 5 grams of Protein. If it were a 20 oz can with around 3.5 servings, it would have 7 grams of Protein. But Aryo-D's has 2-3x less than that. I prefer having more Dietary Fiber and Protein in my foods.
Texture wise, Aryo-D is way, way worse. I remember when I tried the Native Forest brand, the Jackfruit was so soft and fell apart. I thought how much softer it was than Artichokes. There was also a distinct, sweet fruity flavor to it. But with Aryo-D, it is incredibly hard and tough. It takes a lot of hand power to break it apart. Boiling it in water doesn't help soften it up. It is just too tough and hard. Taste wise, the Native Forest brand tasted a lot sweeter.
Really the only good thing about this Aroy-D brand is that it is a lot cheaper.
