I had seen several other brands of kid binoculars in our local toy store, so was familiar with the competition. When I ordered and received this pair of binoculars instead (Melissa and Doug is always a reliable bet, right?), I was really surprised at how small it was. Its okay, since they are for small kids with small faces, but its not really a "substantial" item. I guess the compactness and lightness can be considered a "pro" since it doesn't take up much space and it actually folds down even further.

I do think the neck strap is a danger however. I understand that part of the fun of having a pair of binoculars is wearing them around your neck -- but kids know that too and thats the first thing they do is to put the string over their neck. My issue is that it really is more of a flimsy string, and not a real thick safe strap. Its the kind of cheap string that twists up around your neck as soon as you put the binoculars on and start to move around. Total strangling hazard in my eyes, and this is for an item that is recommended for as young as 36 months.

The string is also cheaply done, and is threaded from back to front, rather than left to right, which means that the binoculars don't really lay flat on your chest, but rather twists to one side, even further promoting the twisting and the choking of the neck.

I'm going to be removing this "strap" with a pair of scissors. Total negative.

The binoculars themselves are fine, and are sufficient for my 2 and 4 year olds having fun with them.

My daughter loves pretending and explore with them. I have looked though them and they are totally meant for kids. They were blurry and you can't see very far. Great toy for kids. They have taken a lot of falls and tosses and they are still in one piece. My only complaint is the string has a safety feature (break away) on them and it doesn't hold together very well and they come apart very easy, this can be frustrating for kids when they are playing with them.

All of the kids had a blast viewing wildlife and scenery with these cute binoculars. The magnification is minimal, but we had a great time with them anyway! The kids still pull these out regularly for play. Great price for the fun!
